“I fantasize about them all the time when I’m having phone sex. Shit, I even fantasized about Vin Diesel once after I saw a Fast and Furious movie, and I’m not even that into him.”

“Oh, Lily.” I laughed. “Well, I’m glad to know that it’s normal to think of other men.”

“So who was it? Brad Pitt? Timothee Chalamet?”

“No…” I said softly and almost whispered, “It was Chandler Andretti.”

“WHAT?” she screeched. “Jacob’s older brother?”

“Maybe…” I sighed. “Yes.”

“Oh, girl, that’s not normal.” Lily sounded shocked. “I thought you were talking about a movie star or singer or someone famous. Fantasizing about someone you know is a different level.”

“Ugh, Lily.” I closed my eyes. “Don’t say that.”

“In fact, it’s quite scandalous,” she said salaciously. “’Cause he’s not just some random man you know. He’s your ex-boyfriend’s brother. Like, that’s almost like sleeping with his dad. That’sJerry Springerjuicy.”

“Thanks, Lily.” I groaned. “I don’t really think it’s that bad.”

“I mean, it’s not as bad as if you’d gotten pregnant for the dad and then your kid would have been siblings with your ex. That would have been bad bad, like backwoods of Alabama bad.”

“I have cousins from Alabama, Lily.”

“Are they kissing cousins?”

“No.” I giggled. “Lily, you’re so going to get cancelled. You can’t say stuff like that.”

“Stuff like what? Should I have said backwoods of Kentucky bad?”

“We don’t know what goes on in Kentucky.”

“I mean, I know they have Kentucky Fried Chicken,” Lily said, giggling. “And I love KFC.”

“Who doesn’t?” I paused. “Well, aside from vegetarians, vegans, health food freaks, and the people that own Popeyes?”

“Popeyes doesn’t even compete,” she said. “But in all seriousness, Chelsea, do you have any reason why you would have thought of Chandler in the throes of passion?”

“It wasn’t the throes of passion. It wasn’t like I was riding Travis and seeing Chandler’s face on his body.” I shuddered at the thought. “That would be cause for concern.”

“That would be crazy,” Lily said. “But seriously, I wouldn’t worry about it. Sounds like you and Travis are headed in the right direction.”

“I think so.” I wasn’t sure how I felt about that. Did I want to get serious with Travis? Did I want to date him? Did I want him to take my virginity? I really didn’t know. But that was likely because I didn’t really know him well. We’d not connected in real life the way we had on the phone. I wanted to experience being around the Travis on the phone in person. I wanted to see his sense of humor and have him tease me. I wanted him to whisper sweet and dirty nothings in my ear. I was going to tell him that I didn’t care what my sisters thought. I didn’t want us to keep it a secret anymore. Not if it meant that we weren’t able to connect in a meaningful way.

“Oh no, what is it?”

“I just don’t like how he treats me in person.” I sighed. “I want a man that treats me the same in person, and I don’t like feeling like his dirty secret,” I admitted. “It’s weird that he can be all sexy on the phone and literally blow his load talking to me, yet in person, he acts like he doesn’t even give a shit.”

“Yeah, that’s not cool,” Lily commiserated with me. “I wouldn’t like that, either. Are you going to say something to him?”

“I think I am.” I let out a deep sigh. “I think we’re going to talk tonight, so maybe I’ll mention it then.”

“Do it, girl. You’ll feel better.”

“Thanks, Lily.” I yawned loudly. “Okay, I need to have a shower. And then head to the library. Good luck with your research. I’ll call you later.”

“Good luck with the business proposal. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.”

“Sounds good,” I said and then hung up, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. I had a plan. I was going to talk to Travis about what was going on between us. And he could either step up to the plate or lose me from his phone. I wasn’t going to be his hidden bit on the side anymore. It just didn’t feel good.
