Her bottom lip trembled. The sight gutted me, so I pressed my lips to hers to make it stop. “I’ve loved you since you came into my life. Ain’t gonna stop now that I have you.”

“You’ve always had me. I just needed to see that for myself.”

“Come home with me. Stay with me and let me take care of you.”

Fresh tears welled in her eyes, but the tiniest smile curled her lips. “I’d like that. To be with you. To take care of you, too.”

I pressed a chaste kiss to her lips. “Let’s get you dressed. Don’t give a fuck what Roscoe says, I’m taking you home.”

Her smile grew, even as she lifted off me and I let out a groan. I helped her into her teddy, then walked with her toward the locker room like I was her fuckin’ security guard.

Wasn’t letting anyone take her away from me.

She was mine, and I was never letting her go.

KELLY

Lee brought me out the back door of The Pink Minx and through the alley to his car. He helped me buckle in, and by the time he got around to the driver side, he had his phone pressed to his ear. He didn’t look at me when he climbed inside and shut his door.

“Yeah, I got her, I’m taking her home with me.” Something like a laugh rumbled through him as he turned on the car, and it made a million butterflies take flight in my stomach. “I’ll do that. Appreciate it, man. Thanks a lot. Bye.”

He had this tiny smile on his face when he hung up, and when he looked up at me, it grew just a little. He reached for my hand and intertwined his fingers with mine, then brought our hands to his face to press in a kiss to my knuckles.

“Who was that?” I scooted sideways, wanting to get wrapped up in the safety of his arms.

“Van.” He pressed another kiss to my fist. “Had him helping me look for you.”

I tore my gaze away, but Lee pulled me back, his big hand cupping my cheek.

“Can’t fuckin’ believe you’re here.” He leaned in closer, his thumb grazing my lips. “Can’t fuckin’ believe how much I wanna kiss you.”

“Then do it.” It was just a whisper, but with as close as we were, even over the sound of the engine and the blast of air coming from the vents, he could hear me. His green eyes flared, the lights of the dash making them sparkle like emeralds.

Lee slid his fingers behind my head, letting them tangle in my hair as he tilted me just so, pulling me closer before fusing his lips with mine.

My aching thighs clenched the minute his tongue drove into my mouth, and I could feel my heartbeat pulsing in the empty space between my legs. It had hurt, being with someone for the first time in a year. Being with someone so gentle after what I’d been through.

Being with someone so big.

Even now, after packing up all my belongings from the storage room I’d been living in for the better part of the past few months, and doing what felt like the walk of shame past Roscoe and Leni and the girls… Even now, I ached.

Was it because of what we’d done, or that I wanted him to do it again?

“Fuck, Kell.” He edged back enough to rest his forehead on mine. “Want you again. Never want to let you go.”

Something like a whimper squeezed through my throat. “Really?”

Disbelief swallowed me, even as he stared at me with so much heat in his eyes I thought I’d been set ablaze.

“Always.” He pecked my lips with his once, twice, and another for good measure before he pulled away. “Let’s get you home.”

Home.

Oh, how I wanted that. To have a home where I was safe, where my anxiety and addictions weren’t a constant threat. One where I was loved, even though I was sure I’d fuck it up.

Except, as Lee drove through the city streets, we didn’t go where I expected.
