“That was incredible,” I say, my eyes still closed as I let her voice echo in my mind.

I feel her take a step in my direction. I open my eyes and take in her beauty.

Time stands still as we gaze into each other’s eyes—it feels as though our souls are connecting.

Callie’s eyes are full of so much intensity, that if I wasn’t a changing man, I might’ve torn her clothes off right here.

But for the first time ever, I don’t want to ruin this.

I do want to kiss her again—more than I’ve ever wanted to kiss anyone in my entire life.

I close the space between us, my heart literally pounding in my ears as I lightly brush my finger down her jaw, lifting her chin up toward me. I can feel her trembling beneath my touch, but in seconds, her lips are pressed to mine. A jolt of tingles shoots down my spine at the contact.

I’ve never believed in fireworks when it comes to kissing, but she just changed my mind.

Her lips taste like honey, and the way she parts them for me, makes me never want to break away. I take the invitation, delving deeper into her mouth—tasting her. With each stroke of her tongue, I find myself desperate for her. I lace my fingers through her soft auburn hair, my heart jumping with excitement as I finally get to feel the soft locks that I’ve been pining over. She’s warm and inviting in my arms as she molds herself to my body.

She’s perfect.

Every ounce of me wants this woman—I want to rip her clothes off right here in this old cabin. I’m positive she’s feeling the same as me as her fingernails dig into my back, her kiss hot and passionate.

This is the best freaking kiss I’ve ever had.

Chapter Sixteen

Callie

What am I doing?

I don’t know the answer to the question, but I don’t care. Wade Lewis is kissing me. And it’s not for show ... there’s nobody else around.

It’s just Wade and I.

I feel my heart beating faster and faster—my breath coming in short gasps. I’m completely lost in the moment, lost in him.

Wade’s lips are soft yet demanding, and I find myself responding to him with equal fervor. My fingers are tangled in his hair, pulling him closer to me as I try to get closer still. I feel his hands roaming over my back and I can’t help but moan into his mouth as I part my lips for him. Every nerve in my body is on fire as his tongue dances in perfect unison with mine. It feels like time is standing still as we tangle ourselves in one another.

I never want this to end.

But alas, Wade pulls away, his hazel eyes locked on mine. He looks just as enthralled as I feel.

Without speaking a word, I’m almost certain we both know that something profound just passed between us. We stand for a moment longer, neither of us wanting to break the spell we’re under before a small giggle escapes my lips.

“So,” I say, my voice low, “about that video.”

He smiles and reaches for his phone. “You asked for it,” he says, pressing play and holding the phone out for me to see.

I can’t help but giggle at Wade’s antics on the screen. If you didn’t know any better, you might assume he was arguing with his own reflection. He’s banging on the glass like a banshee, beer in hand, as the tiger stands there, completely unbothered. He chugs the beer and smashes the can on his forehead before chucking it at the glass.

How attractive.

And just when I think it can’t get any worse, he swings his leg back and kicks the glass, hurting himself in the process. Now he’s hobbling on one leg, giving the tiger the middle finger.

Because it was clearly the tiger’s fault.

Unable to contain it any longer, I burst into laughter, tears pooling in my eyes. As the video ends, I look back up at him, my smile growing wider. “You’re ridiculous,” I say, shaking my head.

He gives me a sheepish smile. “I know it. Do you want to take back all the nice things you said about me earlier?”
