“Honey, I would love for us to have a child.”

“Oh, Quairken, thank you so much,” she beamed as she hugged him. “It was all she could do not to jump in place and run around.

“Let’s finish our task here first. Let’s head upstairs to the attic. We will need to finish cleaning it out. Then we should be sure to pack anything that we want to take with us back to Bachusa.”

“Yes, you’re right, dear,” she said with a nod.

Then they both walked briskly into the hall, up the stairs, and then Quairken pulled the chord from the ceiling above to let the metallic attic stairs descend.

Meanwhile, Airon sat outside by the lavish pool at Emilia’s house. She was basking in the sun as the light sparkled on the water.

“It’s so nice out,” Emilia smoothed out the ruffles on her midnight black skirt.

“I know, it’s great, and by the way, I just love your outfit,” Airon said. “Those black heels match it so well.”

“Thanks, the floral corset tank is new, and it has a front zipper that makes it easy to take off.” Emilia winked.

"Well, then it’s perfect,” Airon giggled. Airon watched as Emilia sat up on the lounge chair, and ran her painted nails through the bottom of her black hair.

“So, are you going to walk by Evan’s house? Don’t forget I have to leave a bit early today. My mother wants to have a family dinner.”

“Oh, that sounds fun. Well, it kind of sounds ominous.”

“That’s what I thought.” Airon gasped. “I hope there isn’t anything wrong. I don’t want to worry about that.” She shook her head. “Let’s get back to talking about the plan with Evan.”

“I want to stroll by his house, but I’m not sure. What if he thinks I’m a stalker, or what if he only wants to hook up? Airon, I actually do like him, and I don’t want to come off odd.”

“I know you like him,” Airon sat right next to Emilia and gave her friend a soft pat on the back. “He seems to be genuinely interested in you, I promise.”

“Well, alright,” Emilia shifted side-to-side in her chair. “You’ve never steered me wrong, so let’s do it.” Emilia bounced up and motioned for Airon to follow.

The wind blew Emilia’s straight black hair as they set off to Evan’s house.“Ugh! No, no, no.”

Airon glanced to see Emilia’s hands flailing about trying to fix her hair. “Emilia, everything alright?”

“No. I mean, I don’t know. Should we be doing this?” This looked like something out of their favorite kinds of movies. Airon couldn’t help but to laugh, a bit.

“What’s so funny?” Emilia bit her lips and waited.

“Nothing. I swear,” Airon wrapped her arm around Emilia’s slender arm.

Emilia took a breath and leaned into her friend. Airon could hear how fast Emilia’s heart was racing. “So, what is it that you like about Evan?” Whatever it took, she would help her friend.

“Oh, well. I like that he seems nice. He always makes it a point to talk to me at school.”

Airon grinned as she listened to Emilia chatter on. Finally, Emilia rested her hand on Airon’s. “Airon, do you think you’ll ever get a boyfriend? I mean wouldn’t it be fun if we both had one at the same time? Think of the outings we could have.”

“I’m sure at some point I will. I want somebody to love but who understands me.” Airon watched as Emilia’s eyes had this glow to them.

“Well, that’s very romantic. I mean, it happens. I think that’s so sweet.”

“I agree that is sweet, but we have to be realistic too. I don’t see many guys, and the ones I do see I’m not that impressed with.”

“Well, I hope you find someone. We are young. You just can’t be too picky.” she said with a chuckle and then stopped. “Airon, I worry about what Evan might expect. Clarissa said—”

“Well, you can’t believe everything you hear, especially if it’s from Clarissa.” Airon gave her friend a hard stare as she slowly started walking. “She has made some bad choices. Ugh and she is almost as notorious as Abigail Bates.”
