“Because they had a fight when they were on the brink of making it and stopped singing together. Wouldn’t talk about what had happened, ever. Whenever anyone brought it up, my mom would shut it down. For the longest time, she wouldn’t even mention Tammy’s name. Whatever happened must’ve been epic. This is the first time they’ve sung together since then. And it took a wedding and a crazy storm to make it happen.”

“What the hell,” I said. “All that wasted time.”

“Where do you think Nat gets her stubborn streak from? She had two strong women as role models. I’m glad you and my sister made up.”

“I am too,” I told him, knowing damn well our argument might rear its ugly head once more when she learned what had been going on with her brother, his band, and me.

Part of me wouldn’t blame her. The entire concept seemed crazy. Why the hell I insisted on staying on this path was beyond me, but I couldn’t help myself. I was into it now, just like I was into trying to sing again. My voice was a bit rusty, and at times, I knew I was pitchy, but the raw talent was there.

I had my own life to live, and this time, no one would get in my way. I didn’t know where all this determination was coming from, but I was grateful that it finally happened.

Just spending the day with such a talented family and being around folks that valued the creative part of their lives had been something to behold. I’d forgotten all about my own dreams when I was a kid. They’d become irrelevant in the course of my life.

Well, not anymore. No matter what happened, the dam had been breached, and I intended to go with the flow.

This fucking storm had been some kind of godsend that we all seemed to need. I didn’t know how that worked, exactly, but that saying… things happened for you and not to you, seemed to make sense in this circumstance, and I was grateful.

Just then, thunder crashed, and this time, I welcomed it. Welcomed the house shaking. Welcomed the crazy feeling of being on shaky ground. It was where I thrived best. The shakier the ground, the better.

“All this movement is making me nauseous,” Emily said while we tried our best to steady the big wooden swing that hung on the far end of her cabin’s porch.

The torrential rain had finally stopped and turned into a drizzle. It was late, maybe around one in the morning, and most everyone had fallen asleep in the main house. Cody and Dustin had crashed on a couple of sofas in the living room, while Natalie and Bernard took over the second guest room. Cody’s parents had disappeared a couple of hours ago. They also had a guest room at Tammy’s place. Tammy and Jimmy were still awake, cleaning up everyone’s mess, which they’d insisted they didn’t want any help.

Emily wanted to go back to her own cabin, but I insisted that I drive her even though she could probably walk there faster. Thing was, there were so many trees down, and the ground was littered with fallen branches. In the dark, it could be a dangerous walk. As it was, the road was almost completely blocked.

“Maybe we should go inside,” I suggested as our kisses became more intense.

“That way I could join you,” Dustin said from somewhere on the dark porch.

“How long have you been there?” I turned, asking him.

“Long enough,” he shot back. “That’s if Emily is okay with that idea.”

“I thought you boys would never ask,” she said, standing. “With my sensitivity to motion, I never thought this would work, anyway.”

“But it was your idea to sit out here and watch the rain,” I told her.

“Watching the rain is fine; trying to fuck on a swing is something else entirely,” she said.

“Why didn’t you say something sooner?” I asked.

“I was in the moment,” she teased, walking up to Dustin and crushing her lips to his, as she ran her hands down the front of his chest. His right hand went up and cupped the side of her face, and I could tell he really cared about her. Dustin’s emotions were easy for me to spot. He wasn’t one to hide anything, and I could tell he was head over heels for Emily. I knew from the way he kissed her, gentle, like she was precious to him.

Just the idea of that caused my dick to press tight against my jeans. My brother and I hadn’t shared a woman in a long time, and sharing this woman was more than I could process. We’d briefly talked about how we would handle this if it happened, and we agreed to give her all the power. We were just there for the ride… and what a ride it would be.

She moved away from his mouth, took his hand, then reached out for mine with the other. We both followed her inside, with Dustin opening the door as we went. I closed it up tight behind me, making sure it was locked, then followed along to her back bedroom.

When we were all standing next to the bed, she said, “Can we take this slow? I’ve never had sex with two guys at once before.”

“As slow as you want,” I told her, as I pulled my t-shirt over my head and got rid of my shoes.

Dustin did the same, and before any of us said one more word, both we were down to our boxers. We knew enough not to strip naked right away. If she wasn’t used to this, which she clearly wasn’t, two naked men with aroused cocks might be too much for her and cause her to second guess this. The last thing either of us wanted was to have her question whether or not this was something she wanted to continue to pursue.

“I almost can’t believe this is happening.” She crawled up on the bed, and we followed, lying on either side of her.

“We’re in it now.” I told her, helping her get out of that loose-fitting sweater she’d worn all day. I kept imagining the type of bra she wore under it and never did I land on this lavender number that barely covered her nipples, which were already peaked under the lace.
