“Sleep is good. We’ll just get out of your way,” I told him. “We’re not planning anything. Nothing. Just fooling around a little. Nothing…”

“Don’t try to hide it, Emily. We came in here for sex,” Dustin affirmed, as if he was letting his brother purposely know the truth. And what the hell did Gabe mean by how he loved to watch his brother get off? I knew they were close, but were they that close?

Had they had sex with the same girl or what?

Brothers…

“I don’t mean to toss a wet towel on all your fun, but does Cody know about this?” Gabe asked. “It’s one thing to have sex with his sister, but do you really want to have sex with the one girl he’s been pining over ever since we met him?”

The more I heard about Cody’s feelings for me, the more scared I became to ever have sex with him. He’d probably built me up into some sort of perfect goddess, and I could never live up to that. Ever. This was reaching a level I might not be able to handle after all.

“You know about Natalie and me?” Dustin asked. “How did you… we didn’t tell… how long have you known?”

“Ever since she told me, which was right around the time when you two first started. And if you didn’t know, I had sex with her as well, but it was only a few times. Apparently, you were the better fuck, brother, so she cut me off at the knees. Cody doesn’t know about that either.”

Gabe was lying down on the long sofa against the wall. It was too short for him, so when he rolled on his back and slipped a black baseball cap over his face, he pulled up his legs and leaned them against the back of the sofa. He said, “Wake me when dinner’s over. I already grabbed something from the kitchen, so I’m good.”

Neither Dustin nor I knew what to say after that. We merely left the room, closing the door behind us, and went out to join the other guests at the reception.

So much for hot sex with Dustin, The Teacher.

What irked me in all of this wasn’t so much that so far, I was striking out with every guy I approached, but that Natalie had already had sex with these two and yet was outraged over me getting anywhere near her fiancé or her brother. Her fiancé I wouldn’t even consider a kiss, and as of last night, had been completely off limits.

What the hell?

If I had to tell anyone how I ended up having sex with Emily Jennings right before my band went on stage at my best friend’s sister’s wedding, I would’ve told them that I honestly didn’t know how the hell it happened.

It just did, sort of like the sun rising every morning, or Christmas coming around every year. Neither of us planned it, or for that matter, even thought it was possible, yet it happened anyway… exactly like Christmas.

Usually, I was the guy who walked away from these kinds of tangled-up situations, yet I couldn’t seem to find a way to walk away from this one. Especially when the woman was as amazing as Emily.

Never mind that she should’ve been totally off limits.

That I should’ve stopped myself.

That we should’ve taken a deep breath and reassessed.

My attraction to her began last night when I first spotted her heading our way right before that boring rehearsal dinner, and that attraction only grew as time went on. Then when she and my brother woke me up from my much-needed nap, I once again felt something stir inside me. Yeah, I was jealous as hell when I realized what she and Dustin were up to, and I wanted in on the fun. Of course, I had no idea if she would agree or not, but it didn’t matter, I was into her by then. Big time.

They left after I made my presence known, but she snuck back.

Big mistake. Huge. Monumental mistake.

We talked for a bit, about the wedding and about Natalie, her childhood best friend. She wanted to know how the two of us ever ended up having sex.

“It wasn’t something we planned,” I told her. “It just happened.”

“I don’t understand how sex just happens. Especially when it should be taboo with your best friend’s sister.”

“That’s what makes it more intriguing, don’t you think? That off-limits element?”

“It never happened between Cody and me, and we’ve been off-limits for decades.”

“Cody runs by a different code than I do, or even my brother. He has morals, ethics. I have some, but they don’t include the sister thing.”

“Apparently, that goes for your brother as well.”
