‘I’ll go run a bath if I can get through there without Lara chewing me out. I thought she’d slap me when I showed up early.’

‘I’m glad you did,’ I said, before pulling Logan down onto my mouth and offering him a slow, sweet kiss.

‘God, you’re something else, just perfection.’

Later, after he’d bathed me back to my senses and filled my tummy with takeout, we snuggled in bed.

‘I made you something,’ I said, feeling silly, but wanting to give him the gift I’d made.

‘You made something for me?’ His handsome face crinkled at the eyes as he smiled. ‘No-one’s ever made me a gift.’

I handed over the wrapped gift, feeling a little sheepish. ‘It’s nothing major. You might hate it. It’s okay if you hate it. I won’t be offended.’

Logan took the small package and ripped into it with glee. I held my breath as the knitted socks fell out onto his lap.

‘I got the softest wool, and I wanted to make you something. I know you probably have like the most expensive socks in the world and don’t need--‘

Logan cut me off by scooping me up against him and kissing me.

‘I love them. I’ve never had a homemade present. Ever. They are amazing. You’re amazing.’

He flopped me down onto the bed as I laughed while he pulled on the socks, moving around the room wearing only them to give me a modelling show.

‘They fit perfectly,’ he said.

‘You know what they say. Big cock, big socks.’ I grinned as he pounced on me and pulled me against him.

‘Thank you, I love them.’

I love you.

I kept the words caged behind my teeth, but I meant them with every fibre of my being.

I had fallen for Logan McGowan.

I couldn’t let Nicole have him.

He was mine.

‘I don’t deserve you,’ he murmured against my lips as he alternated between kissing my jaw and my mouth.

‘You do. You deserve the world, Logan. You deserve to be happy.’

‘I’ve never been happier than with you in my arms, baby girl.’

CHAPTER FORTY

LOGAN

My phone buzzed as my driver pulled up outside the Valetti residence.

‘James,’ I said as I answered it.

‘I’ve traced the line back as far as I can, but it’s not someone who doesn’t know what they are doing. It’s VPNed to the max. There’s just not enough information to follow the trail.’

‘No worries, hopefully the florist will have a lead.’

‘Sorry. Just a dead end. Whoever it is has covered their arse.’
