I wince; oops, my bad.

I gently reach up with my hand and trace my finger over his brows, making his face soften, before he grabs hold of my hand and kisses my palm, making me smile at him. "Alright, baby, explain."

I sigh, knowing I'm about to shock the shit out of him. "Lilah's father, the man Meghan has been in love with for years, is a biker whose legal name is Noah and is in a club that does club runs to Wincher."

His eyes widen in shock, and I nod as he sits him a little, taking me with him.

"Fuck, he's now on his way to Seattle to do a job for another club. Fuck."

I gasp.

No, no, no.

"Can you get him back here?"

He sighs and shakes his head. "No, baby, the plane left five minutes ago, and this isn't something he needs to hear over the phone. He's been looking for Meghan for years, Mel, fucking years. When he returned to the café where she worked, the woman told him she was just passing by."

I sigh. "Nope, she was just off that day; she stayed there for another year before moving on when she realized he wasn't showing back up."

He runs a hand through his hair and says, "Fuck." I nod, agreeing before his eyes turn sad, "Precious, he turned into a man whore when he couldn't find her."

I close my eyes, squeezing them tightly before placing my face into his neck.

Dammit, I know for a fact she hasn't been with anyone since him; this is going to destroy her.

A few hours later, after Doc did a check-up on me, telling me I'd be here for a few days before being discharged, I managed to convince Travis to go home for some better food and a shower. He didn't want to go, but I had to talk to Meghan. I know she's been avoiding me, but if I had to do it all over again, I'd still try to save her for that beautiful, witty girl of hers. I had Doc page her 911 for my room, and just in time, she rushed in, looking frazzled.

I smile wide at her while she looks at me with panic before she realizes she's been set up. She narrows her eyes at me, but I speak before she can give me a lashing.

"If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. Okay, well, maybe not being shot and losing two months of my life and part of my memory would be good, but otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing. Lilah needs her mom alive and well, not in a coma or in the ground. Don't feel guilty because I chose to save you; if anything, kick Travis's ass for half fucking her in the first place."

Her eyes go from narrowed to comically wide, then to amusement within seconds. I grin before tears start to fall from her eyes as she launches herself at me, hugging me gently but tightly while sobbing on my shoulder. At the same time, I gently rock her, whispering that it's okay.

My friend is all heart.

A little while later, she's lying on the bed next to me after Doc gives her the afternoon off when Travis walks in. He grins at seeing Meghan, her head on my shoulder, and relief shines through his eyes before walking over to the chair and taking a seat. He looks at me while taking my hand. "You told her yet?"

Meghan sits up a little and looks between us with furrowed brows while I shake my head before I look down and clear my throat. "So before Cassidy turned into a crazy lady, I asked Travis if he knew Noah."

I turn my head to look at her and see her eyes widen in shock, showing me that she had forgotten, for which I can't really blame her.

"Slicer, in our club, his legal name is Noah. He's about 6" 1, has hazel eyes, and brown hair that he keeps in a man bun on top, the rest short back and sides. Sound familiar to you?"

Tears pool in her eyes before they fall down her cheeks as she nods while a sob comes out. She places her hand over her mouth as Travis continues, "He's gone out of town for a little while to help out another club. When he returns, I'll speak to him. He's been looking for you for years, Meghan. He never stopped; he did lose his way, struggling, but he never gave up hope. Your daughter will know her father, I promise, and in the meantime, she can get to know her favorite uncle before the rest of the club finds out and tries to take the title."

She lets out a watery laugh before laying her head on my shoulder, sobbing, and I squeeze her tight with tears shining in my eyes while smiling wide at Travis, who looks at me full of love.

A few days later, I tap my finger on my leg, waiting for Travis to pick me up. I'm finally being discharged, and I could use a good bath as well as a good dicking. Still, he's flipping late, and when the door opens and Butch walks in with Gunner, I scowl harder, making them both chuckle.

Butch lifts his hands up in surrender. "He got held up by a catfight at Untamed Girls; we're here to take you home."

My eyebrows shoot up in surprise before I scowl again. "And he didn't film it?"

Because let's face it, that would be hilarious to watch after being stuck in the hospital for two flipping months. They both laugh before Gunner shows me his phone and yep, sure enough, two strippers in only their thongs are slapping the shit out of each other, making me smile, which turns into a laugh when I hear Travis.

"CAN YOU TWO SERIOUSLY NOT JUST FUCK THE GUY TOGETHER? I'VE GOT TO FUCKING GET MY GIRL FROM THE HOSPITAL; I DON'T NEED THIS SHIT."

I hear a lot of laughter in the background as Gunner shakes his head while Butch grins. He's been in here a lot the past few days. Now, I doubt I'll ever call him Dad. I mean, he did choose his wife over claiming his daughter and said wife decided to out my mother's mistaken drunken night, causing my life hell, but I did promise to try and be his friend for Gunner's sake. We watch the two women start shoving each other, causing them to bump into a very pissed-off Travis.
