I look at her hand on my arm before looking back at her with a raised brow. "Can I help you?"

She narrows her eyes. "Stay the hell away from my man! Dagger has finally decided to give us a shot."

I snort while Meghan coughs to hide her laughter. I rip my arm from her bruising grip and shake my head before I start to walk out while saying over my shoulder, "Last time I checked, it's me he's been trying to contact, not you, and it's also me he's picking up on Sunday. Grow up, Cassidy!"

I hear her screech as I walk out of the cubicle while laughing with Meghan, and I must admit, that really did cheer me up.

After a relatively normal week dodging Cassidy and her unneeded drama of constantly reporting me for crap I wasn't even in the vicinity of—thank God for CCTV—I'm standing in my small living room in a black knee-length dress. My hair is down, full of curls, and I've put on minimal makeup. I take a deep breath, my nerves kicking in. I have a bad feeling; it could be because of what Dagger did to me—the trust he broke after ensuring I fell deeply for him—or it could be that I'll probably, for the first time, want to go against my beliefs in helping people and kill his stepmom. Probably the latter.

Shit.

I take another deep breath when I hear a motorcycle.

My stomach flutters full of the butterflies that I always get, as well as the sinking feeling when I remember that woman on her knees in front of him. Shit, right. I'm doing this because he needs me, and I care too fricking much.

I quickly lock up before heading out in front of my building to find him sitting astride his Harley, looking too fucking good for his own good. His hair is in its usual man bun, and he's wearing his shades while his black tee hugs hismuscles tightly with his vest over the top of it. He looks at me up and down before he smiles while I walk over to him.

"Hey, Precious."

I give him a small smile back before grabbing the helmet from the back of his bike, but he quickly grabs it off of me and places it on my head himself before he helps me on. I take a deep breath, then put my arms around his waist. His hand automatically comes to mine, holding them for a few minutes before starting his bike. He revs it and then drives off down the road, all while I hold him tight, allowing myself this closeness with the man that had consumed me before he broke me.

Could we have it back again?

Or will my trust be forever broken?

I sigh, holding him tighter before laying my head on his back, my emotions all over the place.

We return to the clubhouse a little later, and Shane lets us in. He waves at me, and I wave back while Dagger drives past the club and into a little estate. He goes past several homes before we come to a big, gray Victorian house, and I swallow hard, trying to control my anger. They live in a massive home, yet they gave him a fucking cupboard to live in.

What kind of father allows his wife to treat his son this way?

As Dagger turns off his bike, bringing me out of my rage-filled head, a tall man opens the door before we even get off. He looks like Dagger, down to his black hair and gray eyes. He crosses his arms over his chest before smiling gently when he sees his son help me off his bike. Dagger removes the helmet and gives me a sad smile while I take his hand as soon as he puts the helmet on his motorcycle and squeezes it tight in reassurance, making his eyes soften towards me and showing me the love I want to believe is there before we head up the porch steps.

"I didn't think you'd make it, son."

I narrow my eyes at the man's sarcastic statement but don't make a scene when Trav... uh, Dagger squeezes my hand. I have a feeling it's going to be a long freaking evening. The man looks at me and grins. "You must be Melanie. I'm Stormy, Dagger's dad." I give him a weak smile, wanting to scream at him while moving closer to Dagger.

This man is no freaking father; he's a coward.

Stormy furrows his brows at me, but Dagger deviates the attention from me to him when he wraps his arm around my shoulders. My body instantly heats up, making me want to scowl.

Traitorous body.

"Let's just get this over with, shall we, Stormy?"

His dad flinches, and pain enters his eyes, but he soon tries to hide it with a look of disappointment, making me shake my head. He doesn't deserve Dagger as a son. To me, his only fault was not being able to keep it in his pants. Shame she didn't bite his dick; maybe that would have taught him a valuable lesson: 'Don't cheat on the woman you say you love.'

Stormy steps aside, letting us pass before we go into the most blinding living room that's full of whites, Jesus. I look at Dagger with a raised brow, and he smirks at me before his brother Ink grabs me into a hug. I hugged him back with a smile.

"hey, sweets."

I pull back from the hug and give him a smile while Dagger growls like a dog, wrapping his arm around my waist and making Ink shake his head while I snort before a woman comes into view. She has a massive frown on her face. I instantly know who it is—short brown hair in a bob, styled to perfection while her brown eyes hold disgust at Dagger, and I take a step forward only to be held back. I look towards Dagger, and he raises a brow at me, causing me to huff, while Ink looks at me with a furrowed brow.

Shit.

Dagger mentioned Ink wasn't aware of his upbringing. He's now only starting to question things.

I clear my throat as she comes closer.
