“Yes, Rowan. Right there. Mmmm…”

Rowan had found a good rhythm and Juniper’s growing moans confirmed that he was doing the right thing. He didn’t smash into her like a man on a mission. Instead, he went in and out of her with slow, delicate motions.

He wanted her to feel every inch of his length and girth as he slid in and out of her. She had begged him to go faster several minutes ago, but he had refused. This was not the time for that, he’d decided.

He wanted to make love to her. And he did. Her nails dug into his sweaty back and he felt a sharp sting as her nails broke his flesh.

He felt a hunger surge in his mind from the pain but reined himself in. The wolf wanted some part of the action but Rowan was unwilling to share. Juniper’s loud moans pumped into Rowan’s ears, reverberating in his chest.

He increased his speed by a fraction and was immediately rewarded with expletives that Juniper hardly ever used. He grinned and pressed his advantage, thrusting with a precision that should have been impossible.

Sweat poured down his chest and back but he didn’t stop, didn’t slack, didn’t break stride. He could do this for hours. He had been doing it for hours as it stood.

“Almost there,” Juniper whispered, grabbing his thighs and pulling him deeper into her. Rowan obliged her, wanting her to climax. Her head rolled back as he pushed deep into her, his shaft stretching her walls to the extreme.

Her lips quivered and her eyes rolled into her head. She shivered for a few seconds, and then released, multiple muscles twitching simultaneously.

She made sounds that Rowan doubted were words as her body expelled fluids all over him. The heat of her orgasm filled Rowan’s head with impulses and shortly after, he was releasing the contents of his sac inside her.

He grunted and moaned and twitched, careful not to collapse on top of Juniper in his ecstasy. It seemed to take forever for him to finish. When he did, he felt worn from his head to his toes.

He rolled over and lay on the bed beside Juniper. They breathed hard in alternating sequences, their chests rising and falling one after the other. Rowan was completely out of breath, and licked his dry lips.

He reached toward the drawer by the bed and felt around in the darkness for a bottle of water. He found it and took a long pull from the bottle, not stopping until the plastic bottle was empty in his hand.

He let out a sigh of relief, then collapsed on the bed again. His thighs burned something furious and he was afraid of moving too suddenly. He couldn’t deal with a cramp right now.

Juniper’s breathing started to level out after five minutes. She had the energy of five people in bed, and no matter how tired Rowan thought she was, she was always ready for another tumble.

Her intensity and desire scared Rowan, but it was still one of the things that he loved the most about her. She matched his energy in so many different ways and their time together always ended up looking like one of them had a point to prove to the other.

She turned to look at him, beaming. “That was—”

“Amazing?” Rowan finished for her, chuckling.

“I was going to sayscary, but amazing works as well.” Juniper smiled. “Really, I thought I was going to burst an artery for a moment there.”

“Lucky you,” Rowan teased. “I think I heard a few pop.” Juniper laughed as he leaned forward to kiss her forehead, and then her lips.

“Poor boy,” Juniper said. “Maybe we should take a break for a few weeks?”

“Not a chance.”

Juniper laughed. Rowan had come to love the sound of her laughter. The first few weeks after she had returned to Moonwood, things had been difficult, tense and frustrating.

Juniper had put up a high wall around herself, a wall meant to keep Rowan out. For the most part, she had succeeded. But after all they had gone though together, her walls had come crumbling down around her.

There had been a lot of pain along the way, but Rowan was thankful for everything that had happened. He was glad that they had come out on the other side of the river, alive.

The bruises and scars made it even sweeter. When things had gotten rough, they had gone through the test of fire together. Their bond had solidified, and it felt as if they had only just rediscovered each other again. Like two complete strangers on a train of destiny.

His life was finally perfect. He could not think of one thing that he would have wanted to add or remove.

He had spent the last month with his friends rebuilding the town. The damage had been more extensive than he had initially thought. Most of the damage had been caused by the shock waves from his fight with the vampire.

They found broken roofs in houses several miles away from the town square. According to his friends, the fight had felt like two titans tussling. They had never seen anything on that scale before.

Fortunately, there hadn’t been a shortage of volunteers from the town. With the woods safe again for lumbering, they had an abundant supply of materials for the rebuild, as well as tireless workers. In some ways, the attack had brought the pack even closer together.
