“You need your ass handed to you.”

I pull her into my arms to kiss her, and she melts, flowering open, a wild rose blooming for me. The kiss morphs from hard and hot to tangled passion, and I slowly break it—we need to get the fuck out of here. Taking her hand, I pull her along to where Garcia’s waiting with a car. He catches my glare, and he just glances at her.

I guess I won’t kill him. Rose is irresistible, after all. She’s managed to turn fucking Belucci into some sort of besotted kid. It’s sort of disgusting.

“Where—”

“Shut up, Rose,” I say. “We’ve got a debt to pay and a boat to catch.” The moment we’re in the car, it takes off. “Why did you kill her?”

Rose smiles. “She liked you. Also, she was going to shoot you, Niko. I saw the gun. I’m not letting you get out of this wedding.”

I smirk. “Like a bullet would stop me.”

“I prefer you without more bullet holes.”

“Fine by me.” I kiss her hand.

“Niko? Are they all waiting for us? Or…”

“There’s a big party either way, but you’re marrying me, you know. After all that…”

She’s quiet for a long time, and then she rests her head on my shoulder. “I want to be married to you. I need your ring, and I think you need mine. These women need to know you’re owned and off the market.”

I bite back a grin. Sweet Rose doesn’t fucking realize there are women who see the ring on the man as an invite, but the only invitation I’ll want is hers.

“You don’t want big, Nikolai.”

I sigh into her hair. My heart hurts. “I want what you do.”

“No, you don’t, but you’ll give to me anyway.”

And in that moment, I hear it. Her love, how she’d give it all up for me. She doesn’t need to say it. I know her.

My next real step I have planned? It’s the right thing.

It has to be.

Rose is…worth more than the world.

Belucci puffs on his cigar as his gaze lingers on Rose and her ass as she moves about the deck of the yacht.

“Don’t make me fucking gouge out your eyes, Belucci,” I tell him, annoyance flaring.

“Don’t marry perfect creatures like Rose, Wilder.” I glance at him and he grins, blowing a smoke ring. “Eh, I’m here for love, what can I say. Plus, she’s besotted. With you.” He shakes his head. “This yacht, the island stay, it’s a wedding gift to you both.”

I straighten up from the railing. “That brings me to my debt.”

“You—”

“We know the game, and I owe. For all of it.” Reaching into my pocket, I withdraw the fat envelope. “Popov’s holdings and territories. Milovic’s too. They’re not Bratva, so their men will be happy to work for a big outfit like yours. Just set aside a good amount for Ivan’s daughter. Inherited payback ends here, for us at least.”

He whistles low. “This is half of New York.”

I nod. “And of course, my channels and allies are all open to business with you. Rose has some properties she’s looking to get rid of. I don’t need them, and she doesn’t like the affiliations, so your small Queenstown hold will be stronger.”

“And you keep your part of New York?”
