Page 29 of Haldor

I make my way towards the bedroom door just as there is a knock. Opening the door, I see Violet standing on the other side smiling. From all the women here, Violet and I seem to have hit it off from the moment we met. “I came to get you to come and meet Nova and her mate, they have just arrived I saw the prospects opening the gate.” I smile at her excitement, stepping out I close the door behind me as I follow her down the corridor.

“How did you sleep?” she asks as we enter the bar area.

“Not much, I missed Haldor in bed.” I know it sounds strange as I have only been with him for such a short time, but I genuinely missed his touch, his warmth and his very presence.

“It’s normal,” Violet consoles as she takes my hand in hers, “as soon as our mates leave, we start feeling their absence, but don’t worry because they feel the same.” It is consoling to know that the men feel the same as we do and that it’s not just a one-sided feeling. We arrive at the main door to see a man standing next to his Harley, his eyes taking everything in around him.

There is click which has my eyes turning to an SUV that has stopped next to the motorcycle. A beautiful woman is behind the wheel, the back door has opened, and a little boy is jumping down. His hair is dark blond, he has the most mischievous smile on his face.

“Daddy, daddy.” The man next to the bike turns and in one motion catches the boy that is launching himself at him. “I wanted to ride with you, Esme didn’t want to play.”

“It was too far for you to ride with me, you can come with me some other time.” His arms slide around his father’s neck in a tight hug, his eyes turning to us and I hear him whisper loudly.

“There are people looking at us,” the man turns his head, his eyes crinkling in amusement as he looks at us. It is clear that the father is just as mischievous as the boy, that naughty smile can’t hide it.

“Ceric” I hear the woman calling as she steps out of the car, “Can you take Esme, she’s sleeping.” Ceric makes his way towards the car, he lowers his son to the ground and inclines his head towards us.

“Go say hi,” he says as he disappears behind the back door of the SUV that the boy left open. I see the boy’s hesitation as he turns towards us, he waits a minute but then seems to build courage as he slowly approaches.

“Hello,” I greet when he is a couple of feet away, “you must be tired after such a long drive.” I actually have no idea how far away the main chapter is from us, but as Ceric said it was a long ride I’m suspecting they are a fair distance away.

The boy glances behind himself, then back to us to nod in agreement. “Would you like to come in to have something to drink?” Violet asks.

“Mommy?” he shouts.

“It’s fine, go on.” Nova calls as she makes her way towards us, her eyes stopping on me. “You are new,” she states.

“Hi,” I reply.

“Why don’t we know about you?” she asks as she comes to stand before me.

“They have just mated; we haven’t had a chance to inform anyone.” Violet explains as she steps forward to hug Nova.

“Who has mated?” Ceric asks as he comes to stand next to his wife, a beautiful little girl tucked in his arms.

“Haldor,” Violet replies and I see Ceric and Nova smile.

“Fuck me, it’s about time,” Ceric mutters only to have Nova slap his arm lightly.

“I’ve told you about that, he is going to start swearing soon.” Nova reprimands which is amusing when looking at Ceric. He is not someone that I would argue with, playfully or not. There is amusement on his face, but it is clear to see that he is dangerous under all that handsomeness.

“Nova” Freya calls as she steps outside, a smile on her face, “what have you done this time that you have been banned.”

Nova shrugs as she shakes her head, “nothing much,” at her reply Ceric grunts as he steps around her to walk inside. “What? It wasn’t anything much, I thought they would find it funny.”

“Just drop it, we have spoken about this.” He argues as he disappears inside, “Which room are we in?” he asks from inside.

“The one next to Tor’s, we have added two cots in there for the kids.” Freya calls

“How long are you with us?” Violet asks as Nova steps inside; we follow her to see Ceric disappearing through the door to the back where the rooms are.

“Don’t know, depends on Draco.” Nova mutters, “I should have flattened his tires.” Her comment has Violet giggling. “Anyway, how about you? Tell me all about yourself and how did you meet the grumpiest of the Cape Town Elementals.”

I raise my brow at the change of subject, shaking my head in amusement as she takes a seat at one of the tables and pats the chair beside herself. “Come on, sit here I don’t bite.” She says with a smile.

“Don’t believe that I swear I have heard that she bit someone.” Freya laughs as she takes a seat opposite her.

“Shh, don’t scare her,” She says.
