I tense.Argh, irritating man.Turning, I hurry into the bathing room. I should go sleep somewhere else just to spite him, but I know I am not going to, as I am tired and really need a good night’s sleep.

Turning on the water in the bath, I let it run, seeing the semi-precious stones that adorn it shining in the reflection of the water. I love being able to lie back in the bath and let the water sooth all my worries away, but today, knowing that Drez is just a few steps away has me hurrying through what is usually a long, relaxing process for me.

When I am done, I make my way towards my bed, not once looking towards where Drez is lying, but I have the suspicion that he is asleep and not bothered with my show of anger. I touch the stone around my neck, thinking of the time that it used to warm when someone needed calming when having a nightmare. Ever since the problems started, my stone has been still.

Closing my eyes, I think back to everything that has happened and how a couple days have changed me. Before, I was naïve without a care in the world, going about my normal routine, not thinking of what evil is out there. Now all I can think about is how I will make Eternity Fae safe again for those around me. I thought growing my magic would only come with time, but now that I have started to see that the power is all in me and all I need to do is unleash it, I find myself more confident in the Fairy that I am and the Fairy I will one day become.

I must have drifted off to sleep, because the next thing I know, there is smoothing wet on my cheek. I turn my head, but then it moves to my forehead. Opening my eyes, I see a big tongue coming straight for me again. “Argh,” I squeal as I hurriedly try to get out of Beast’s reach.

“Beast,” I snap, only to see a smiling Love standing by the door of the room.

“Sorry, did he wake you?” I glare at her as she approaches, her eyes twinkling in amusement.

“Not funny, Love,” I mutter as I rub at my face.

“Well, sorry, but everyone is getting ready and you are sleeping the day away,” she says as she comes to sit at the bottom of my bed.

“Getting ready for what?” I ask with a frown. Were we supposed to go somewhere today?

“To go find the sound that is the cause of these shadows that have been plaguing Eternity Fae,” she says as she flickers her hair back over her shoulder.

“We are going there now?” I jump out of bed as I ask the question. Looking around, I see my bow against the wall where I left it yesterday when I appeared again in my room. I quickly find myself tights and a long-sleeve black T-shirt with silver threads intwined in the black that twinkle as I walk. I change into the clothes and then plait my hair so that I can keep it out of the way in case we come up against something unexpected.

“Brog thought best that we try to find the source of the sound sooner rather than later, as we don’t know what it does.”

“Who’s all going?” I ask, only now realizing that Drez is no longer in the room. So much for keeping an eye on me.

“Hope, you, me, and some of the men. Reality and Vain went to check on some of the Fae we haven’t yet seen.” I want to ask her if Drez is coming, but I hold my tongue, knowing that Love will use that to tease me. Sliding my feet into my high leather boots, I walk over to my bow. Picking it up, I slide it over my shoulder as I tie it in place.

“I’m ready,” I state as I start making my way towards the bedroom door.

“You haven’t told me yet how it was yesterday after you came to bed,” Love asks as she falls into step.

“Nothing to say,” I murmur. Glancing at her, I see her raise a brow at my answer.

“I know that Drez slept in your room last night. I saw him sneaking away this morning,” she says as she elbows me playfully in the side.

“Yes, he slept on the floor, and he was sleeping when I went to bed and gone this morning, so you see, snoopy, there is nothing to tell.” We arrive downstairs to see Hope having an argument with Trek. Her hands are on her waist as she glares at him.

“Don’t be stubborn,” Trek says, only to have Hope shooting him a murderous look.

“Look who’s talking. You are the king of stubbornness,” she shoots back.

“This isn’t a joke, Hope. Just wear something sensible.”

I look at what Hope is wearing and smile. Guess her skimpy little shorts do not agree with his sensibilities.

“And what, may I ask, is sensible for you? Armour?” she asks sarcastically.

“Do you have any?” he asks with a raised brow, and it seems he is contemplating it.

“Argh,” she mutters.

“Morning,” I say loudly. Trek turns his head to look at us and then points.

“See, look how they dressed. Can’t you put something like that on?” Hope glances at us and then back at him.

“You’re not my father, you know,” she says angrily before she turns and makes her way out the front door.
