Lincoln was already pulling containers from the bags.

Nash picked up his phone from his desk and sent a text.

Thank you for the food.

Of course. Eat, boy. We’ll see you when you get home.

Nash set the phone down. Home. He didn’t actually live with Lucas and Adam. He didn’t want to think about that though. That apartment above Lucas’s shop was the best home that Nash had ever had. He was accepted there. Even when he hadn’t been able to settle the night before they’d patiently allowed Nash to vent and pound his fits on a pillow. He would have paced but his leg had been aching. Then Lucas had taken them to bed and fucked the remaining energy out of Nash as Nash had sucked Adam until their baby couldn’t think straight.

“I heard there was food?” The L.T. joined them as they all spread around Nash’s desk. He, Lincoln, Rodrigez, Green, and the lieutenant. The team. They had one another’s backs.

Not only had Nash found the men that made him feel wanted and needed—he had a team who relied on and trusted him.

“Help yourself. There’s plenty.” Nash wasn’t kidding. Lucas must have bought half the menu.

“Lucas?” The L.T. asked.

“Of course it was. Nash can’t remember to feed himself, much less us,” Lincoln joked.

“Stuff it,” Nash mumbled. He shoved in a mouthful of chicken and rice. He wasn’t that bad. Sure, he usually put off all his chores to the last minute, but Nash could feed himself. He just preferred takeout and fast food to cooking. He hated laundry. He despised cleaning his house. That was normal, damn it. There were hundreds of other things that Nash preferred to do.

“This shit is good,” Green said with a mouthful.

“Fuck, man, swallow.” Rodriguez nudged his partner.

“So, L.T. We heard from Smith,” Nash said.

“You’re not going,” the lieutenant told him.

“But—”

“You can’t work in the field.”

“I can coordinate with Remy,” Nash replied. “Be in a surveillance van not far away. Come on!”

Lieutenant Cirillo frowned.

“Let us go,” Lincoln said. “We can help. If this was about Sam, you wouldn’t stay on the sidelines. You can’t expect Nash to do that either.”

“Now I have to let you both go?”

“Yes.” Nash and Lincoln said at the same time. They were partners. Nash didn’t trust anyone like he did Lincoln. Except for maybe the two men that had stolen his heart.

“I’ve contacted the lieutenant who replaced me. He’s not happy about me using his guys,” the lieutenant said. “I’m not sure we’ll really be welcomed there.”

“We?” Nash grinned. He knew it!

The L.T. snorted. “Like I would trust you and Lincoln there on your own. But I am concerned about this new lieutenant. There’s something about him that’s rubbing me wrong.”

“Give me what you have on him and I’ll have my buddy in IT take a discreet look.” Rodriguez looked around. “What? I said discreet!”

“He’s a cop. There is no such thing.” Nash nudged Rodriguez. “You just want to excuse to go down to the basement.”

“Not true. I want to help.”

“We’ll wait on running him. He’s a lieutenant and I don’t want to make any more waves.” The L.T. frowned. “Maybe I’ll get a different feeling when we get there.”

“We’re really doing this?” Nash would need to talk to Lucas and Adam. Not that he thought they’d have a problem with him going to Vegas. Lucas would watch out for Adam.
