Adam refused any alcohol and Nash wanted to ask questions from the adamant way he’d declined but realized that it was probably a conversation for when they were alone. Lucas had simply waved a hand when a beer was offered to him.

“He’s so funny!” Trick said with a laugh as he dropped down beside Nash.

“If you’re not careful, he’s going to beat your ass,” Nash commented.

Trick shook his head. “Not Mac. The worst he’ll do is spank me and never when he’s been drinking or if he’s really angry.”

Nash looked over. “Is he…” This was an impolite question to ask. But Nash had questions. “Your Daddy.”

Trick giggled. “No, nothing like that.” He frowned. “Well not totally. I’m not a little or anything.”

“But you know about littles?”

“Sure.” Trick shrugged. “I wanted to know more after meeting all of you. I thought I might be, but I don’t regress. I just like having someone looking after me.”

Nash swallowed hard. “Me too.”

“Nothing wrong with that,” Trick replied. “I thought for a long time that it made me weak that I wanted Mac to make decisions for me. It just means that I trust him. That I can depend on him. Mac doesn’t see me as weak.”

“Mac adores you,” Nash said. It was obvious to anyone who’d ever seen the two men together.

“Pretty much how Lucas has been looking at you and Adam.”

“Maybe.” Sure, Lucas liked him and Adam. Who wouldn’t fall for Adam the moment they met him? Adam was smart, hard-working, with a loving heart, and cared more for others than himself. Nash wasn’t any of those things.

He’d become a detective because he liked solving puzzles and hadn’t wanted to continue in school. Nash hated school. It was hard to sit still and pay attention when there were so many other things he could be doing.

Having too much energy was something that he’d struggled with his entire life. Even his own parents had been happy to see Nash graduate and leave as he followed his own path.

Not that his parents didn’t love him. They did. They just found him exhausting like everyone else.

“I know it’s hard to believe.” Trick leaned closer as he lowered his voice. “I thought Mac was pranking me when he first asked me out, and I turned him down. I’d started at the shop and didn’t think anyone like him could like the nerdy weirdo.”

“Obviously you worked it out,” Nash said.

“Wasted a good part of a year but I finally gave in. I was lucky that Mac hadn’t given up on me. Been together ever since.”

“That’s great.” Nash meant that. Trick and Mac belonged together.

“Just like you belong with your guys.” Trick patted his shoulder. “Don’t waste the time that I did. Lucas cares about you. He’s a good man that deserves to be happy. You make him happy. So don’t fuck it up!”

Before Nash could respond, Trick was off and bouncing over to Mac, who held an arm out for him.

Nash caught Lucas’s eye and nodded to the stairs.

Lucas nodded then tugged on Adam’s hand where he’d been walking by. “Ready to head up? Nash is tired.”

“I am too,” Adam admitted.

“How about cuddling and a movie on the couch for the three of us?”

“Please, Daddy.”

He hated that he had to wait for Lucas to come over and help him off the couch. The longer that he had to rely on Lucas and Adam, the sooner they would get tired of him.

“Come on, boy.” Lucas hefted Nash up and off the couch. “I promised our baby cuddling and movies on the couch upstairs.”

Nash grabbed his crutch where it leant against the arm of the chair. “Do we get to pick the movie?”
