CHAPTER

Lily

When Vance and Bricecame back into the room it was clear to see the heat, we all felt earlier had cooled off, then

they lowered the boom. I had a fiancé who was a notorious mob boss as well as a father who was one.

I'm a mob bosses’ daughter?

Then there had been the news that my own sister was now engaged to my former fiancé because I went missing. Did he really even love me? Did I ever love him? And why when I thought about him, I felt a fear in my heart every time?

“My sisters engaged to him now, but why? I don't understand.” I asked confused how he could have just moved on to the next daughter my father had.

Brice grabbed a hold of my other hand, drawing my attention to him now. “From what we were able to find out, your family, and the Gatti family, are merging together to become one big powerhouse,” taking a deep breath he

continued. “The merger of the two families is solidified by a marriage, which would have been you and Vitale until

your sister stepped into the roll once you went missing.”

Getting up from the couch, I walked to the other side of the room while taking this all in. “So are you saying that my father just like gave me to this Vitale guy to marry so he could have more power? And then when I disappeared, he gave him my sister, l-like a piece of property he was trading for it?” I asked in total disgust and disbelief that someone would actually do that to their own daughter, exchange them like currency.

Vance let out a heavy breath. “That's what we don't know. We don't know anything about your relationship with Vitale or your own family for that matter... but we're willing to help you figure those things out.”

Thinking for a moment about how I now knew who my family was, but felt nothing but fear when I thought of my fiancé, unlike the safety I felt when I was with Brice and Vance, I wondered if I even have to go back to them. Especially when one of them could be the reason I was with Luciano in the first place, sold into slavery. Looking up at Brice and Vance again, I could see the worry in their expressions. Would they even miss me if I left? Or was I just as important to them as they had become me?

Well, I guess there is no time like the present to find out.

“Would I have to go back to them?”

Both men exchanged looks with one another before Vance spoke up. “Come sit,” he patted the spot on the couch between

the two of them. When I walked over and sat down, he continued. “We are not going to force you to do anything you don't want to. If you don't want to go back to them you don't have to. But I'm going to be very honest with you, a family like yours and the Gatti's probably won't rest until they find you.”

Suddenly a terrible thought came to mind. “Do you think they'll harm you two to get me back?”

“Don't worry about us, sweetheart.” Brice tried to assure me, cupping my face. “This is about you. We promised you that we would find out who you are and then what you do with that information is up to you.”

“But these are extremely dangerous people from what you're telling me. What if it were Vitale that gave me to Luciano so he

could be with my sister, or worse, someone in my family? What if I go back to them and this time whoever wanted

me gone kills me?” I asked, worried that I was going to lose the only two men I'd come to care so much about.

“Lily,” Brice said.

I love the way that name sounds coming from him.

“Lily?” I questioned, curious as to why he'd shortened it.

He smiled. “Yes, the name Lillian is a beautiful name for an extremely beautiful woman, but Lily is the sweet woman

I've come to care so much about. She's the girl that lives on the ranch with us and rides horses like she's been doing it her whole life.”

Leaning over to kiss Brice lightly on his lips I pulled back. “I think I have a newfound fondness for that name now.”

“I like it myself.” Vance added, drawing my attention to him.

“Aww, are you feeling lonely over here?” I cooed, kissing him.

“Not anymore,” he smirked, raising a brow at me. “So, what is it you want us to do for you, Lily? Do you want us to do a full investigation on your family and the Gatti's, or go with you to confront them and see if some other memories come to you once you meet them? You might figure out who wanted you gone.”

“Honestly, I don't want to go back just yet. Obviously my sister is now engaged to this Vitale guy, that I feel absolutely nothing for when I look at him. Just the underlying feeling of fear which I'm not even sure has to do directly with him. But if

he is the man you say he is then my guess is I didn't want to be with him, and I feared him because of who he is. I'd rather you guys dig up as much as you can before I let any of them know I'm alive. I don't trust them right now like I do you two. Is my mother alive as well, or is she gone?” I asked, realizing she'd not been mentioned
