“Good. The other reason we wanted to talk to you is to tell you that the business has been sold, and the money is now in your accounts. The house is also all in your name and everything in it now belongs to you.” Gerald tells me, and I can feel my eyes widen.

“We’re home now, this has always been our home, and we don’t plan on leaving it again, especially since our friends are here and the town needs us,” my grandmother adds.

“Yeah, but are you sure that you want to give it all to me?” I double check because it was one thing inheriting shit when I thought she was dead, but it’s an entirely different thing to be given it now that she’s not. This is a weird sentence, but then this is a weird situation.

Gerald smiles, “Of course, you’re our granddaughter.”

“Thank you,” I reply, not really knowing what else to say.

“If you need anything else, just let us know. We’re here now, and we want you to know that you come to us for anything. I’m also hoping that you still want to know about the family specialty?” my grandmother adds.

I nod, “Absolutely. It was fascinating, and I’d love to get a greenhouse at home so that I can grow my own. However, I know that I need to learn more first. Oh, do you need anything from your office and the safe? I can bring it in a couple of weeks when we come back for Malory’s graduation.”

Demelza seems to think about it for a second before she replies, “Actually, yes, there are a few things. I’ll make you a list and text it over to you. If you have any questions about any of the poisons in there, let me know, and I’ll talk you through them.”

“Great, thank you. I better get to bed if I have any hope of getting up on time tomorrow.” I tell them standing up.

“Yes, we’ve got a really busy day tomorrow as well. We have the meeting in the afternoon, and we’re providing food and drinks and all of that. Just like we used to, we’re more than aware that it’s going to take a while before the townspeople start to trust again.” Gerald replies.

“They will though,” I tell them honestly, “it’s obvious that none of you are like the parents; they’ll get that soon enough.”

“We’ve just got to create a sense of community again, and I think we’ll be okay,” Gerald adds.

“Oh, I know; what about a fall festival or something? With rides, apple picking, stalls, and all that shit. Small towns love that sort of thing.” I suggest. “I’ll come and help organize if you need me to. I love everything to do with fall.”

My grandmother's eyes light up, “That’s a wonderful idea. I’ll bring it up with the others. We used to do something like that before, every year. It would be nice to bring it back. Don’t worry; I’ll keep you updated.”

“Thanks,” I smile and then hug them both tightly before heading up to bed. I’m going to miss them, but it’s reassuring knowing that they’re here and that I can just call or turn up if I ever need them.

**********

The next morning we head off early, and there’s an air of excitement that we’re finally heading home.

“I’ve loved spending time with our grandparents and everything, but I’m so fucking glad that we’re heading home and get to sleep in our own beds,” Rome says as we stop at a drive-thru for lunch and then carry on. None of us want to stop for very long. We all just want to get home now.

“Same, I miss my animals,” Ace adds.

“Not much longer. Have you messaged Sawyer to let him know that we’re on the way back now and we’re going to pick the animals up in about an hour?” Rip asks.

“Yeah, he’s trying to find Murph now,” Ace replies with a smile.

“They didn’t mention that they had any issues?” Rome asks seriously.

Ace shakes his head, “No, they said there hadn’t been any more incidents, but we can double check tomorrow.”

“Have you found anything from your search?” I ask him curiously.

“Not yet; it’s still going. It should be finished tomorrow, which means we can just settle in back at home tonight and then start the job in the morning,” Ace replies.

“Good,” Rome replies. “We need to get this sorted pretty fucking quickly. I don’t want him to get near Harley again.”

“None of us do,” I reply.

When we finally pull up to the Conspiracy’s house, Ace gets out to go and find his animals and the rest of us head into the main house to catch up with Harley mostly.

“Hey guys,” she greets us as she ushers us inside and into a spacious and surprisingly modern front room. “Do you guys want a drink or anything?”

I shake my head, “No, we just came to check in and make sure that you haven’t seen Harrison?”
