“Okay, well, he’s kind of helping Ridge get over his fear then,” I point out, trying not to smile and then realising that he can’t see me anyway, so smiling.

“I’ll be sure to tell him that you think he should look at it that way. I’m sure he will be very appreciative,” Sawyer replies, amusement heavy in his tone.

“I don’t see why not,” I chuckle, “alright, I’ll get Ace to send you our location, and then we will explain everything when you guys get here.”

“Great, is it just us you need?” Sawyer asks, getting back to business.

“Well, we should only need you guys, but let the others know that there may be a chance that they might be called in to be back up,” I reply, trying to cover all the angles, “and let the tech team know just in case they need to pull something special in order to get them out of their current jobs if they need to come here. It’s only a worst-case scenario, and I think it’s highly unlikely that it will come to that.”

“Got it,” Sawyer replies, “I’ll let the others know and the tech team.”

“Great, thanks,” I reply before adding, “If any of the other Ravens are on particularly sensitive jobs, obviously leave them where they are. We can cope fine.”

“Got it,” Sawyer replies, and then adds, “I’ll see you in a few days.”

“Thanks, Sawyer. Bye.”

After he hangs up, I take a moment just to make sure that I told him everything that I should’ve told him, and then grab as many snacks as I can carry and head into the front to snuggle with my men. After I’ve caught them all up on everything that happened in my conversation with Sawyer and they’ve had a really good laugh at Murphy’s antics, we all settle down to eat the snacks and watch the movie. We don’t see my grandparents or Malory for the rest of the evening, and where my grandparents are concerned, I assume that they’re with the others since Francis said on the phone earlier that they were having a meeting about what to do with the town.

Waking up the next morning I realise that we all managed to fall asleep in the front room at some point, and I slept in a really awkward position. My back desperately needs a really good stretch if I have any hope of walking normally, and not like one of my legs is two feet shorter than the other one. With this in mind, I untangle myself from the still-sleeping twins and get up, stretching as I make my way to the kitchen, where I can hear the others moving around.

“Morning,” I mutter, still sounding half asleep, as I plop my ass down at the table and yawn.

“Morning, we were just about to come and wake you guys, we need to get up to Rip’s soon, I don’t want to leave Francis and Hugo waiting any longer than really necessary,” Rome replies, putting a mug of coffee in front of me and making me smile.

“Thank you,” I reply, “someone needs to wake up the twins then, they’re still fast asleep.”

Ace hops up, a mischievous grin on his face, “I’m on it.”

“We’re up,” Mason mutters as he strides into the room, Mal close behind him.

“Aww, I was looking forward to waking you guys up,” Ace complains as he sits back down, and no shit starts pouting.

“We know, and somehow we could sense that even in our sleep, which is why we’re now awake,” Malachi smiles as he pulls down a mug and makes himself coffee.

“That isn’t possible,” Rip points out.

“And yet we’re awake,” Mason replies.

“Alright, now that everyone is awake, let's go over what is happening today,” Rome interrupts.

“Good idea,” I reply, leaning back in my chair and bringing my mug with me.

“We’ll finish breakfast and get ready to go and then head straight down to Rip’s. It’s about a thirty-minute drive. We’ll secure the property, make sure the staff gets sent home, and then let Rip’s grandparents know they can go home for the first time in a very long time.” Rome finishes.

“Sounds good to me,” Rip replies.

“After that, we need to find out who the buyer is for the smugglers and plan the takedown. We have five days now to do that, and the Conspiracy is arriving in four to go over the plan.” Rome adds.

“Which means we can take the next few days just a bit easier than usual since it’s mostly research.” Ace points out.

Chapter Sixteen

“Good, I don’t imagine that the smugglers are going to be easy to take down, although we don’t have the element of surprise on our sides since they aren’t expecting any issues here and are used to only dealing with Silas. That should make them easier to take down.” I add thoughtfully.

“Let’s hope that they don’t have someone in the town who can tip them off,” Mal adds.
