I know how I feel about them, and I know they want my body, but do they desire more? Do they want to keep me, or am I just a job to them? My heart shouts no, but my mind has always enjoyed playing with that vital organ.

“Final question for tonight,” Noble says. I keep my eyes closed and enjoy the warmth of Duke as he asks, “Who do you think would want to harm you?”

I snort. That’s easy. But will they believe me?

SIX

Noble

No amount of coaxing could get Sol to eat more than her plain, dressing-free salad. She filled us in on an incident with ice cream a few years ago, so we gave up trying on the steak. We didn’t like it, but we respected her desire not to repeat an experience she’d rather forget.

Right now, she’s outside, singing to the damn parrot because the fool flew up into the tree to try and find the hummingbird he saw earlier. Sol insists her singing can get him to do anything, so I’m sitting with Flounder on the front steps of the porch, watching her dance around the tree, trying to catch the asshole, and enjoying every minute of it.

Lorde and Duke went on a perimeter check before the last rays of sun disappear for the night. Nobody knows we’re here, and you’d have to dig pretty deeply down the family tree to tie this place to me. The property has been in my family since the Civil War, the cabin rebuilt twice, most recently by the three of us about six years ago, and it’s still in the original owner’s name on the deed.

The only way to figure out that our company is the owner is to search property tax records. Most stalkers aren’t that smart.

I close my eyes and listen to Sol’s lyrical voice crooning about the sea, mermaids, and young love. She could be professional if she wanted to, she’s that alluring. Blood fills my dick as I imagine her in the shower singing to herself, soapy from washing, water dripping off her perky tits, and slick between her legs from arousal for us. Christ, it didn’t take long for her to wrap me around her tiny little finger.

“Little girl,” I grunt just as my phone dings, the camera from three miles down the road flashing on the screen.

“Yes, Daddy Noble.”Fuck. Me.

Opening the app, I wait for the license plate to run through the system Lorde built that automatically records plate numbers once they pass the camera and slips it through a back door in the DMV database.Illegal?Yeah, probably. But worth it.

“Take the dog inside.” She senses the change in the air as I stand, scanning the road leading to the cabin as I reach for her just as Sebastian comes sailing down. “Smart bird, I was going to let you get eaten by that snake climbing up the tree.”

“You wouldn’t!” Sol jumps when she sees it, grasping my hand and sliding into my side.

“Asshole, asshole!” Sebastian curses, and it’s funny as fuck to hear, but I can’t enjoy it right now.

“Need you inside now, princess.” Dropping a quick kiss on her lips, she does as I ask, unhooking Flounder and luring him in with promises of a treat.

A name pops up on my screen just as the cabin door closes, and Lorde and Duke come around from either side of the structure. “You see that?” Lorde snaps, weapon in hand.

Another alert three miles on the other side shows they drove right past us. “Doesn’t make sense,” I mutter.

“Nope.” Duke is antsy, unable to stay in one place. “You think there’s a tracker on her?” It would be the only thing to make sense. However, in the distance between the cameras, there’s a scrambler in place. It blocks the signal of any tracking devices, so that could explain why they drove straight on through.

Heading inside, we find Sol curled up on the couch with a blanket across her lap, the bird still on her shoulder, and the dog at her feet.

“Did your parents put a tracker on you? In your jewelry?” My tone is abrupt, and I can tell she’s taken aback by the widening of her eyes.

“I don’t think so. If anything, it would be on my phone, but Duke took that before we left yesterday and shut it off.” Worry creeps in on her. Her eyes go glossy with tears, her fingers ring the edge of the blanket, and her breathing accelerates.

“Hey, little girl, don’t go off the rails just yet,” I try to reassure, sitting on the table in front of her. Duke and Lorde settle on either side of her, each stroking a hand along her legs while I hold her delicate hands in mine. “Nothing’s going to happen to you.” Titan has kept the girl sheltered, but I think not keeping her in the loop about this stalker and what he wants was a mistake. She might not need to know every sordid detail of the letters and images, but she needs to be better prepared.

Reaching forward, I cup her cheek, and she nuzzles right into me. Too fucking perfect, this girl of ours. “I seriously need you to tell me who you think is stalking you.”

She had trouble while preparing dinner after we broached this subject. I know she had an idea despite indicating the contrary. I saw it in her eyes before they’d shifted away and avoided me for the entirety of our meal. “Sol.” Her eyes lift to mine. “Tell Daddy.” I release some of the dominance I’m dying to use on her without manipulating her because she responds to it.

Her chin wobbles, and the tears fall as she responds, “My mother and Mr. Scuttleworth.”

Lorde

We suspected but hadn’t been able to confirm it. The vehicle that had driven past the property was registered to Titan Pharmaceuticals, but that was all the information we could gather without hacking their system. Which I was prepared to do; I would do anything for this girl of ours.
