Amata didn’t speak until the two agents were out of earshot. “That was fun.” One side of her full mouth creased into a half smile. “I can’t wait to hear the story of where you got that thing from. I assume we’re going to ask Queen Inanna to send someone to pay them a visit.”

“Yep. Better have Jordyn’s husband, Michael, snoop around on his computer while they’re at it. Just to make sure I didn’t miss anything else.” He chuckled. “I can’t even blame forgetting things on old age anymore.” He’d take the perks of having the body of the thirty-year-old in his prime over an aging one any day. Especially when he got to spend his life with someone like Amata.

“In the meantime, we’d better figure out where we’re going to live.” Claude looked around at the group of mourners. “One thing for sure, we have to go away from Earth for a while.” He put an arm around her in a comforting embrace.

They’d talked about living in Azadi, the moon city, to be close enough to visit Earth often. It would give them the opportunity to raise baby Thea with Jordyn. He could work with Inanna’s sons and their business as they searched for ways to help humanity.

Or they could travel to Akurn and live there for the next 3600 years. That way, Amata could reunite with her long-lost relatives. It’d also be a great way to pay back the monarchs for saving his life. They could help the new king and queen reconstruct their planet’s fractured society and turn it into something great and solid.

Visiting Earth wouldn’t be a problem because the planet had a fleet of new interstellar ships available to use once it left transportation range of Earth. The downside was the trip would take weeks instead of being instantaneous.

Not that he gave a shit where they ended up. As long as he was with Amata, who cared? He couldn’t wait to start their journey.

“So, what’s it gonna be, Amata?” His voice was heavy with desire and anticipation, ready for whatever fate she chose for them. Heart pounding, a small smile pulled his lips. Stepping close, he plucked off her sunglasses and cupped her face, savoring the velvety smooth skin along her slender jawline. All it took was one glance into her captivating turquoise eyes, and he fell in love with her all over again.

“Azadi or Akurn?”
