When we pulled up to her house later that night, I opened her car door and walked her to her front door. I was desperate to kiss her soft, full lips, but I refrained, not wanting to make her uncomfortable.

Instead, I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around her, pulling Liza flush against me. I could see every fleck of blue in her irises.

My wolf reacted to her scent in a way he’d never reacted before. Up close, I caught the real aroma—the perfume that was her. It confused my wolf because it seemed masked somehow. As I buried my face into her neck, I breathed her in deeply, taking a lungful of her. Her heady scent made my body thrum with need, and I had no choice but to step away before Liza felt the hard bulge of my cock against her hips. As I withdrew, my wolf snarled, wanting me to inhale more of her intoxicating essence.

“I had an amazing time with you, Liza.” I took another step back into the shadows, hoping she didn’t take my retreat the wrong way. I wanted to stay close to her, but all my years of careful control faded when I was near her. My cock strained against my pants.

“Thank you for dinner, Ty.” If I wasn’t mistaken, there was longing in her eyes.

I put my hands in my pockets and tugged on my khakis, attempting to adjust myself. “Lock up and sleep well.”

Just before she turned to go inside, I noticed she looked a bit flushed. She waved, then closed the door behind.

I rushed back to my car, insanely turned on. The whole way home, I kept catching whiffs of her scent. What the fuck was wrong with me? I hadn’t reacted like that to a woman since puberty when I couldn’t control my erections. But this felt different. Stronger. Much stronger.

As soon as I was in the privacy of my bedroom, I shut the door behind me, yanked off my pants, and headed to the shower. My cock was so hard, I was afraid it would explode.

The water was blistering hot against my skin as my fingers curled around my shaft. I’d needed this from the first minute I looked at her, the first time I saw her, and since that moment when my wolf stirred and demanded I have her.

My head fell back against the tile; my strokes quickening. Thoughts of her body against mine, her hands tangled in my hair, her mouth hot and wet on my skin, spurred me on.

I wanted to press into her curves, bury my cock deep inside her and ride her until we were both exhausted and out of breath.

Eyes closed, I slid my hand along my dick. I craved her body, her mouth, her hands on me. I wanted to taste her skin, her mouth, her pussy. My balls tightened. My skin burned. For her. All for her.

Release came in a storm of passion. I stood trembling, my fist still clenched around my cock. Jerking off wasn’t enough to appease my wolf, but it took the edge off until I could be with Liza. And I would be with her. I had no doubt about that.

As I drove into town the next morning, I pondered over my reaction to Liza the night before. Had I reacted to her that way because she was my fated mate? I’d been turned on by other women plenty of times before, but this was different. If I hadn’t stepped away from her when I did, who knew what would’ve happened? My wolf was ready to take over, and my dick had a mind of its own.

I’d talk to my dad about it later. Being an alpha with a fated mate, he might have some insight into my strong reaction to Liza’s scent.

After I spent most of the morning asking around about a blond shifter in a town, I finally narrowed down the location of the strange man who’d been asking about my family. Presley Acres was a town of about a hundred thousand people. While I didn’t know everyone, I knew everyone in the pack, and this fucker had never attended a pack meeting. As far as I knew, he’d never even shown his face in town before, and this guy’s features were light enough—the same pale skin and silvery white hair as Liza—that everyone knew who I was talking about. Plus, he wasn’t exactly in hiding.

He was staying at the Blue Moon Motel on the outskirts of town. It only took a couple seconds for me to convince Marsh Walthrop—a local shifter we tolerated because of his family’s friendship with my father—to give up the guy’s room number. I settled in to wait outside his door.

After an hour of waiting, the guy walked out of his room. I didn’t waste a second before I moved in. He turned just in time to see me approaching. He smiled, almost as if he had been expecting me.

“Well, well, well. If it isn’t the first son of Presley Acres. How are you, Tyson?” I had no idea how he knew who I was. It didn’t shock me, since a lot of people were familiar with me, but I sure as fuck wasn’t answering this tool. I was here to ask questions and demand answers. Unfortunately, that didn’t stop him from jabbering on. “I wondered how long it would take for one of the big bad wolves of Presley Acres to hunt me down, so to speak.”

And there was no one bigger or badder, so this fucker had better watch it.

“Who the hell are you and what’s your business in Presley Acres?” I snarled and took a step closer. He’d driven his fancy little sports car into the wrong pack’s territory.

“My name’s Stone Black.” He held up a hand as if he was directing me to not come closer to him. I hadn’t taken another step. I had no desire to invade his personal bubble… Unless he came at me, then I would match him. “And my business is with your father, not with you.”

That condescending tone was going to get him killed.

“You don’t have any business with anyone in Presley Acres. My father has no idea who the fuck you are.” I crossed my arms and stood my ground. He’d have to go through me to get to my dad, and I would not be making that easy.

“Your father doesn’t know he has business with me, but once we talk, he’ll get the picture real quick.”

I didn’t like the sound of that. No way was I letting this fucker get anywhere near my dad, alpha or not.

Stone continued. “Run along on home, then mention Heather Falls to your old man.” He handed me a business card. “Tell him to give me a call.” His eyes were stone cold, icy blue as he lowered his voice. “Your father has things to answer for.” His narrowed eyes and deep, steely voice spoke the one word he wasn’t saying. Crimes. It was a big accusation—one I didn’t intend to take lightly.

Stone calmly walked to his car and slid behind the wheel. I didn’t know who he was or what he wanted, but I would damn well find out very soon.
