“Here are Trent’s business cards,” Grant said. “If you can get them on the board and update the website.”

“Absolutely,” she said. “I’ve got a few ideas if you’ve got time to talk.”

“We’ve always got time,” Garrett said. “What are your ideas?”

“I know you said there was a big space available on the third floor. You weren’t sure what to do with it. It’s not big enough for most people for offices.”

“It’s not,” Garrett said. “Not unless someone just wants two office spaces and that isn’t many.”

“Why not have a community room,” she said. “Like a community conference room that people can sign out. It can be for bigger meetings if they don’t have the space. Or want a meeting not in their office where other people can see what is going on? A party or something? We could have all the business cards there too with fliers that tenants can post of upcoming events.”

“I love it,” Grant said. “That’s a great idea.”

“It is a good idea,” Garrett said. “Why don’t you walk up with us and let’s look it over? I think Royce is here right now. We can grab him and get some ideas.”

Roni didn’t expect them to agree with it. Or not this fast. She was thrilled though.

She got up and grabbed her phone and keys, then flipped the sign on the door that she’d be right back and locked the office.

She didn’t mind she was the only one here all day long. She found things to keep her busy, but the truth was, all four businesses were passing stuff to her if they could when dealing with tenants.

She managed all the work being done and was the go-between for the owners and the tenants and enjoyed making those connections.

The three of them went to the stairs and walked up to the third floor. She’d rather walk than take the elevator and she found her bosses were the same way most times.

“Royce is on the fourth floor,” Grant said, “I’ll just go up and see if I can pull him away.”

She didn’t know how they knew that when Royce had projects outside of this building too, but it wasn’t her business to ask.

“This is a big space,” Garrett said while they were waiting. “Do you think having a fridge or something here might work?”

“If you want,” she said. “Then if someone is having a gathering or party, they can have space to store things. There are cleaners here anyway, so they can make sure this room is taken care of. A sign-out for it too with me. I’d be glad to manage it as part of my job and make sure there are no issues.”

“Hi, Roni,” Royce said, walking in. The guy was big and good looking but not her type. Besides, she knew he was dating Chloe Gray who was an engineer that did a lot of work on this building. More than dating actually since Chloe was pregnant. Not that anyone told her, but she could see it and made the assumptions herself.

Nor was she interested in dating anyone and hadn’t since she split with her ex six years ago.

Her son, Eli, was her life and she had no time for anyone else.

“Royce,” she said. “I’m so sorry they pulled you away.”

“It’s fine,” Royce said. “Grant said you had an idea for this room?”

She told Royce what she thought of it. She knew all the owners would have to agree, but Royce would be the one doing the work so he’d have to figure out prices and timelines.

“Isn’t it a great idea?” Garrett said to Royce.

“Works for me,” Royce said. “We can hammer this out fast since it’s just one open room. Flooring, paint, lights and be done. I’ll run it by my father and Elise, but I don’t see any issue with our vote.”

“You love it too,” Grant said. “So that is two votes. I don’t see either the Olsons or McCarthys caring much either.”

She found that all the businesses were so busy with their other firms that small things like this weren’t a big deal.

They were for her because it was her job. She took pride in what she did.

“Well then,” Garrett said. “I’ll make some calls and we’ll get some information for you soon, Royce. Then you can let us know what materials you might have on hand for flooring. No reason to go overboard.”

“I’m sure we’ve got something extra lying around that we can use. Paint isn’t much,” Royce said. “This could be a fast and cheap project when you let me know.”
