His hands dropped away because he wasn’t sure he could continue to control her when she was determined to do what she wanted.

He’d learned by now that when her mind was set there was no talking her out of it.

And her mind must be set to drive him insane because her hand stopped moving and her mouth stilled too, but she was sucking on him so hard it felt as if he were a Popsicle on a hot summer day.

His legs started to shake and there was nothing that was going to stop him. “Roni,” he said.

She didn’t heed his warning and even sucked harder and he started to come, she jerked back and coughed, him making a mess of her floor. “I tried to warn you.”

“I know,” she said. “I just thought maybe I’d be able to do it. I guess not.”

He was touched she tried. “Not everyone can.”

She moved to the kitchen to get a paper towel and he was adjusting his pants. “I’ve got it,” she said when he went to clean it up.

“I did it.”

“Actually, if you think about it, I did it.”

He smiled. “You did. You did it well too.”

“Thank you,” she said, grinning.

“And you know darn well I’m going to have to do it to you too.”

“I expect that.”

She stood up and walked to the kitchen to throw the paper towels out. On her way back through he grabbed her and tossed her over his shoulder.

“It’s my turn now.” She was laughing loudly. “Shhh. You’re going to wake up your neighbors and then they will know what the sweet quiet single mother is doing right now.”

“Let them know,” she said. “It’s about time I had some fun in life, don’t you think?”

“As long as it’s with me, I think it most definitely is.”

Diane answeredthe phone and heard Jolene Fierce ask, “How was the wedding?”

“It was beautiful,” she said. “It’s been a long couple of days and I’m glad to say it’s nice to be retired.”

“With all those grandbabies of yours,” Jolene said, “you’re never retired.”

“I know,” she said. She put her feet up on the couch and flexed her toes and then pointed them. Grant came over to start to rub them for her. They’d only been home about an hour. Each of them changed and got into comfortable clothes.

“Fill me in on the wedding? It’s always lovely to see our good work at play,” Jolene said.

“It was beautiful,” she said. “Mick and Lindsey were the best man and matron of honor. Sam and Stella were also in the wedding party. It was small. Flynn’s family is just his mother. His half brother and two half sisters did come from Tennessee and it was sweet to see. Julia just has Mick and her mother. Their father is in prison again, but I don’t think he would have been invited. I don’t think Julia even wanted her mother there, but she’d never not invite her.”

“Family is family regardless of their behavior at times,” Jolene said.

“And we know not everyone loves yours,” she said.

“Are you kidding me,” Jolene said. “I taught you everything you know. Just think of all those couples at the wedding today that you had a hand in getting together. So fill me in on what is going on with those you are working on.”

Diane let out a sigh. Her sister-in-law was right. “The good news is, Trent and Roni are officially a couple.”

“That’s great,” Jolene said.
