“I’m good, Mr. Travers.”

I don’t know if I’ll ever tire of calling her Mrs. Travers. I still can’t believe I can call this woman by wife.

“Are you almost ready to get out of here?”

The party is winding now. Only family and close friends are still here, drinking and dancing the night away.

“Aren’t we expected to stay until the end?”

“No.”

We could make our escape now, and I don’t think anyone would notice. I’m ready to start the honeymoon. Two uninterrupted weeks of Gemma on a beach in Mexico?

It’s all I want.

But first? First, I want to enjoy every bit of our wedding night together.

Starting with the surprise, I slipped away to get ready for her a few minutes ago while she was dancing with her sister and friends.

“Well, then…” Gemma spins in my arms. “Let’s say our goodbyes and get out of here.”

Hugs are given as everyone passes on their well wishes.

“It was a lovely wedding, Blake.” Mom pats my cheek, her eyes glassy. No doubt from all the drinks consumed. “You and Gemma will be very happy.”

Coming from her, that’s high praise. “We will.”

“Don’t keep her waiting.” She nods to Gemma, now standing anxiously behind me.

“I’ll call you when we get back from our honeymoon.”

She waves me off. “No need. I’ll be back in England shooting.”

And she’s back to the mother I know. “Either way. I’ll let you know when we’re home.”

Dropping a kiss to her cheek, I snag a bottle of champagne from the bar and meet my waiting bride.

“About time.” Her laughter precedes her as she runs to our small cabin. With the glow of the lights from the reception, Gemma’s dress glints in the dark night sky.

Like a beacon calling me home. And that’s what she’ll always be. Home. No matter where we are in this world, Gemma is home.

The woman in question is waiting for me on the porch, a huge smile on her face as the memories of my first time here slam into me. That kiss she gave me. The way it changed everything for us.

She pushes the door open and waits as I step up to her.

“Expecting anything?” I quirk a brow at her.

“I think it’d be bad luck if you didn’t carry me inside.”

I drop a peck on her lips. “Well, we can’t have that, now can we?” Sweeping her into my arms, I carry my bride over the threshold of our cabin.

Neither of us is in a rush to leave this place. It’s where we first met. Where Gemma first gave herself to me. It’s full of so many special moments that it’ll be hard to leave when the time comes.

“Thinking some pretty heavy thoughts there, Blake?” Gemma drops her forehead to mine.

“Only how much I love it here. You.”

I don’t set Gemma down as I carry her through the living room to our bedroom and into the bathroom.
