“Mother of Night.” He grunted, grabbing me around the shoulders, and pulled me hard against him as he wrapped his wings in tight. “Enough.”

The wings didn’t tickle anymore. They confined, controlled, pressing me against him. Hard breaths expanded his chest, pushing against me. The amusement was gone now. Now there was just him and his wings and his chest and his…scent.

Oh Jesus, his scent.

I breathed in deep and realised the shudders no longer claimed me. My knees no longer shook and the cold no longer wrapped itself around me. Instead, I felt…warm, a little warm at least. The harder I inhaled, the more I realised it wasn’t just the wings that warmed me. It was him.

His body.

His breath.

I lifted my gaze, finding him waiting for me.

“Female.”

“Stop calling me that.”

“What?”

“Female. Stop calling me female. It makes me feel like I’m…known for my sex alone.”

“Your sex alone? Should I call you delicious?”

Heat burned in my cheeks. “What?”

“You said it was about your sex. The word that comes to mind when I think about that is delicious.”

“Delicious?”

He smiled, those perfect full lips curling. “And me, what words comes to mind about me when you think about sex?”

“Abstinence…if you keep it up.”

The smile fell. I didn’t know if he understood the word or just the tone of my voice, but he knew…

“My name is Violet. Please call me that.”

“I’ll call you whatever you want, Mate. Lover. Delicious. Violet.”

That heat in my cheeks burned even hotter. He lowered his head and lifted his hand. His fingers crept higher to brush the outside of my breast. “Or I could just call you mine?”

Those fingers moved across, circling my nipple until I tightened.

“How about that, Violet? Shall I call you mine?”

My breath caught. My pulse raced.

“I can hear your heartbeat. It quickens when I say that.”

His thumb circled and circled and circled, making me close my eyes and bite down on a moan. His breath was a hot, heavy blast against my cheek. “Mine.”

My body trembled and this time it wasn’t because of the cold. It was for a whole other reason, one that grew warmer and bolder, making me open my eyes and lift my head, finding those pitch black orbs. “Say it again.”

“Mine,” he growled and bent down, holding his wings where they were, wrapped securely around me.

The soft velvet contact was a blanket now, one that was no longer confining. I turned my head and tilted, brushing my cheek across the surface. It was Dregon’s time to moan. The guttural, aching sound, rumbled in his chest.

He liked that.
