Author’s Note

This is a dark monster romance, triggers contain: monster romance, abusive ex and melt your heart romance.

The darkness closed around me. But I didn’t fear it anymore…I welcomed it instead.

Running from my loser boyfriend into a forrest at night wasn’t the smartest thing I’ve ever done…

But what was when it was for love?

A Mothman monster romance by Atlas Rose.

Chapter 1

VIOLET

My now ex-boyfriend jerked his gaze toward me with a pissed off look. One look at the bag in my hand, and he snapped. “What the fuck are you doing now?”

I strode out of the tent and past him, then stopped and turned back. “You know what, Michael, I want to thank you.”

His scowl grew deeper as he pushed out of his chair. “Thank me?”

I glanced at the others as they stared. “Yes, thank you. Because tonight you gave me exactly what I needed. A clean break.”

He took a step closer, the beer still in his hand. “What the fuck are you talking about, a break?”

“Exactly that,” I declared, looking at him now with fresh eyes. The glow from the fire bounced off his pockmarked face, making him look sallow…and ugly. He was ugly, and it had nothing to do with his complexion. Before tonight, I'd thought he was the handsomest man I’d ever seen, now I was just disappointed. “We’re done.”

This sudden clarity was blinding now shining the light on every argument he started and every disappointment he delivered, ending with this…a weekend that was supposed to be something special, and ended up with him pressuring me into fucking his best friend, just so he stick his cock into someone else.

A heavy sigh sank my shoulders, if it wasn’t for the argument and me storming off and getting lost in the forest I would never have met—

Him…

I would never have met him.

Dregon.

The Mothman hunter.

Relief swept through me with the words. “We’ve been done for a long time, and I just didn’t see it. But I see it now. Thank you, Michael. Thank you for reminding me of my self-worth.”
