Holly hadn’t told her sister much except that they were feeling things out, which wasn’t far from the truth. So far, her mother hadn’t started asking questions, but the longer Declan crashed with her the more likely news was going to be all over Mistletoe. And while she was enjoying having Declan all to herself and discovering a plethora of things she’d never suspected, crossing the line with him hadn’t dimmed any of the attraction between them, at least not on her side. In fact, it had done the opposite for her. Holly enjoyed spending time with Declan, in bed and out, and had already been brewing a plan for this weekend that included the two of them sharing a room at the house she’d rented for the party.

“We are having fun, but I think…it’s a bit more than that for me and I could use some advice.”

“Uh oh. Lay it on me.”

“I’ve never had a relationship, let alone been in love. How do you know if that’s what you’re feeling?”

“Well, infatuation can feel a lot like love at first, but your case is unique because you two started out not being able to stand each other. Do you want to be around him?”

“Pretty much all the time.”

“Do you guys talk and do other things, or is it mostly bedroom stuff?”

“We do both. He’s teaching me how to cook.”

“Lord help him,” Merry teased, earning a glare from Holly. “Sorry. Honestly, Holly, it sounds like you two are headed in the right direction, but I can’t tell you if it’s real or not. You have to decide that for yourself.”

“Gee, that’s helpful. What about the relationship thing? I told him I didn’t want one and if I tell him I do now, he’s going to run screaming for the hills.”

“Why do you have to label it right now? Why don’t you just go with the flow like you always do?”

“Because I don’t want him to leave.”

Merry pointed at her. “That’s your answer then.”

“Do I tell him or just wait?”

“I would be honest, because if he’s really not feeling the same trajectory as you, hanging on will just hurt worse in the end.”

“I was afraid you’d say that.”

“Or you could disregard my advice like you do in every other aspect of your life and see it through your own way. The path to love is different for everyone.”

Holly contemplated the truth of her sister’s words as the bus took a right into the Brews and Chews parking lot just as Tara sat back down with two cups in her hands.

“These are for you,” she said, handing them off to Merry and Holly.

“Where is yours?” Merry asked.

“Already drank mine. We’re going to Brews?” Tara griped. “Man, I was really hoping for a road trip to Boise.”

“It is seven o’clock on a Friday night,” Sally replied, her tone heavy with exasperation. “By the time we got to Boise, we’d be too tired to party.”

“I know, but a girl can dream.”

“I voted for a weekend in Vegas, but I was shot down,” Ryan complained, moving across the aisle to sit on the other side of Merry, laying his head on her shoulder.

Holly leaned out to look around Merry at Ryan. “It’s all about the bride, Ryan, and Merry wanted to stay local.”

He met Holly’s gaze with a huff. “Please, she doesn’t know what’s good for her.”

“Sitting right here!” Merry said, patting his knee.

Ryan chuckled. “I know, ruiner.”

“Rude!”

Holly turned to Merry with a smile. “We’re just picking something up. Don’t be disappointed.”
