“Of course I do.”

“Then tell him that. You can work on the forgiveness part slowly, but you need to tell him how you feel because tomorrow is not guaranteed.”

“Very meme-ingfully put.”

“Fine, make a joke,” she grumbled.

Declan touched her arm, concern etched in the fine lines of his forehead. “Are we okay? Anything I said or did to piss you off?”

Holly shook her head. “We’re good.”

“Then how about we walk out the front together so you don’t get the heebie jeebies again?”

“Sure, that would be great.”

Holly watched Declan clean up, paying close attention when he stripped off his painting clothes and redressed, hungrily taking in the muscles of his back. As emotionally mixed up as she might be right now, seeing Declan shirtless could always get her motor running. The man was a beautiful thing.

When he caught her staring, he grinned. “See something you like?”

“Everything.”

Declan crossed the room shirtless and lifted her against him, backing her against the door. “Why do I feel like we’re fighting?”

“What? I haven’t said a word.”

“But there’s tension. Am I imagining it, or is there something you’re not telling me?”

Ninety-nine percent of her wanted to admit that she hated the thought of him not being in her life, but that one percent screamed it was too soon. That she sounded like a needy woman looking for a boyfriend when she swore up and down that was the last thing she wanted.

Holly relaxed against him, looping her arms around his neck. “Like I said, long day and I’m tired and sore. Makes for Bitchy Elf.”

His hands slipped between her and the door, nimble fingers pressing into her lower back, and she moaned as his fingers rubbed in circles, kneading the muscles there and working his way down her butt and thighs. Holly’s forehead dropped onto his shoulder, melting into him with a hum of pleasure.

“Any better?”

“So much,” she murmured, lifting her head and finding his mouth with hers.

Declan deepened the kiss, and she lost herself in him, the way his body molded into hers and how his hands held her tight like he wanted to keep her and never let go.

Holly broke the kiss at the intense thought. “I should probably go.”

“Or you could text Delilah to check on her, I’ll talk to my dad tomorrow, and the two of us could find another way to pass the time.”

Declan’s mouth found that spot on the side of her neck that turned her to goo, and she caved, her fingers tangling in the back of his hair, giving the strands a little tug. His mouth came back to hers and the kiss wasn’t gentle or playful but fierce and wild, breaking only to shed their clothes in swift, jerky motions. When Declan grabbed a condom from his wallet and sat in the chair, she watched him roll it over his hard cock, anticipation coursing through her like electricity.

Declan reached for her and Holly came without hesitation, straddling his lap and the chair, sinking onto his length as her sore feet and calf muscles protested their use. Declan’s hands covered her hips, his fingers digging into her butt cheeks, and he took over, rolling her hips with his hands over her, maneuvering into her a little at a time. Declan’s mouth covered her left nipple when she was fully seated, sending lightning bursts exploding behind her eyes as she closed them, all thoughts chased away as Holly forgot to breathe. Her fingers got lost in the soft strands of his hair as he loved her, the intensity of his thrusts increasing with the pressure of his mouth. Holly gasped when he switched to her other breast, falling into a sea of satisfaction as her orgasm crashed through her.

“Declan,” she cried out, holding onto him as her body trembled against him, and all the while he continued to thrust again and again until suddenly he was shaking too. He clung to her, his mouth everywhere at once, and she opened her eyes when his lips found hers, moss-green orbs staring into hers. She’d always believed kissing with your eyes open was awkward, but at this moment, watching Declan’s pleasure and being completely connected to him was breathtakingly beautiful, and she wanted to freeze this feeling. And that’s when she knew.

Without a doubt, she was falling head over heels for Declan Gallagher.

CHAPTER 32

“You really aren’t going to tell me what we’re doing for my bachelorette party?” Merry asked, climbing onto the party bus with a laugh.

The converted school bus Holly rented had a stripper pole in the front, a bar in the back, and a long bench seat on either wall. A strobing disco light hung from the ceiling, flashing rainbow lights throughout. She’d arranged for the bus to pick everyone up at the Winters Christmas Tree Farm even though it was a few miles outside of town; at least the parking lot was big enough to accommodate everyone’s cars until they returned tomorrow.

“I’m really not going to tell you what we’re doing, but hopefully you’ll love it.” Holly stepped in after her sister, who was decked out in a simple black sweater and jeans with her blond curls loose around her shoulders. Holly had warned everyone to dress warm and comfortable, which had brought about questions of why they weren’t barhopping, but Holly diverted their questions.
