I raised my nostrils and sniffed, following the scent of the cargo hold where the ships would be.
Half a dozen Goblar troops opened fire on me.
I turned to one side so Emily would not get hit and swung my arm around, destroying them instantly — it made no difference if they were wearing tough armor or not.
Then I raced through the corridors.
Unstoppable.
We reached the top and raced towards the nearest ship.
I climbed on board, deposited Emily in the copilot chair, and took off.
The blast doors were already opening at my approach.
It was lucky for the Goblars they allowed me to leave or else I would have torn the entire place apart.
I began to release the adrenaline only after we were ten light years away and racing towards the nearest quadrant belonging to my father’s Empire.
I felt a hand on my arm.
Emily was rubbing it.
She smiled up at me, tears in her eyes, her cheeks wet.
I put the ship on autopilot and climbed into the copilot seat with her, balancing her on my lap.
I clutched her close, hugging her tightly.
“You came for me!” she said through blubbering tears. “You rescued me!”
“You are my fated female,” I said. “You are the light of my life, the dawn of my mornings, the full-blood moon of my evenings. You are my everything.”
She burst into tears and leaned forward to kiss.
We raced toward the safety of the distant stars.
Our destination was infinite happiness and one we had already reached.
It didn’t matter where we went for we had arrived at that sweet sweet destination already.
