“Hey, I have to be a role model for what I want in an employee,” London snorted. He took pride in his position. When he and Jaxon first created the company, it was just the two of them, and they easily pulled in seventy hours a week. Now that PSM has been flourishing, he probably didn’t need to work long hours, but he couldn’t help it. That was just how he was programed. “Can’t have you outshining me.”

“I hear you’re going to have a meeting with Khalil.” Respect could be heard in Brad’s voice. “That’s going to be record-breaking if you’re able to sign him.”

“Details haven’t been worked out, but we’re going to sit down, and I’ll pitch to him why he should sign with me.”

“You have something planned?”

“Yeah. I’m working on getting a deal with Cleveland. If he signs with me, I’ll already have a sweet deal waiting for him,” London bragged slightly. He had a great relationship with the Cleveland basketball program’s front office. Over the past few years, he had begun a courtship of the legendary basketball player. They ran in the same circles and saw each other frequently. It was only a matter of time before the athlete would start thinking of signing with another sports agency.

“And I’m sure your percentage will cut you a nice piece.”

“Of course. I’m worth it,” London replied.

Setting his computer down on the couch, he rested his feet on the table and yawned, running a hand along the side of his face. His hand was met with hard bristles along his jaw. He hadn’t shaved in a few days, and it was showing.

“So what’s up? I doubt you’re calling me on a Saturday to discuss work.”

“Actually, I sort of am.” Brad cleared his throat before continuing. “There’s going to be a yacht party down on the lake tonight, and I wanted to extend an invite to you.”

London thought about the offer. A month ago, he wouldn’t have hesitated. Part of their job was to smooch up to clients and ensure they had everything they would need for them to sign a contract.

Now, partying on a yacht didn’t sound too appealing to him.

“Do you need help pulling the client?”

If Brad needed him to help close the deal, then he would go. He and Jaxon were always supportive of their agents, and if they needed to be involved to ensure contracts were signed, they would be there. Their agents’ success was theirs.

“Naw, I got it. Manny Lopez will be signing one of the biggest contracts in the baseball league thanks to me.” Brad’s voice was muffled while he spoke to someone next to him. “Anyway, I didn’t know if you’d want to celebrate with us.”

“I’m going to pass tonight.”

It was out of the norm for him to turn down celebrating with clients of his company, but tonight, he didn’t want to party. He wanted to spend time with a certain woman who was currently avoiding him.

“All right, man. See you Monday?”

“Yup. Have a great time. Make sure videos get recorded so marketing can put it out on social media.”

Most of the younger athletes had a big presence on social media, and PSM had to have one too. He wanted to make sure his company stayed in sight of all athletes, especially ones that would be going pro.

“Will do.”

Disconnecting the call, London tossed his phone on the cushion next to him. Running his hands over his face, his ears perked up at the faint sound of a conversation out in the hallway.

Bolting from the couch, he jogged over to door, ignoring how out of character this was for him.

London Keith never chased women.

But here he was, staring through the peephole.

“There you are,” he muttered, seeing Alana sliding the key into her lock. Opening his door, he folded his arms in front of his chest.

Alana’s eyes grew wide when they landed on him.

Damn, she was gorgeous.

Today she was dressed in dark jeans that molded to her curves. A green T-shirt with a weird symbol on it, and matching green Chuck Taylor’s on her feet.

Her hair was parted into two long ponytails. Her glasses were large and green.
