I know it is.

When someone tells you exactly who and what they are, you should believe them.

But I don’t care.

Every fiber of my being is buzzing with need and all I want is for him to keep touching me, to feel his calloused hands against my soft skin.

“Now run along, B.”

CHAPTER FIVE

Something flickers in her eyes when I tell her to go.

All I know is that every second she stands here and doesn’t walk away my resolve grows weaker.

“I never act reckless,” she finally says. “I was perfect in high school, and now I’m perfect in college. I was captain of the cheer team and dated the quarterback. I’ve never been with anyone but Travis, and whenever I went to sleep every night all I could think about was how perfectly boring my life was. Always doing the same things with the same people. Eating the same foods, listening to the same songs.”

She reaches up and pulls the tie out of her hair and shakes it out, honey colored locks cascading around her shoulders. “I broke up with him because I felt like I was going insane. Perfect Blair in her perfect little box with her perfect little life. Maybe I don’t want that. Maybe I want to know what it feels like to do something bad.”

Uh… huh.

Lights begin to shut off in the area around us, and the sound of the whirring rides die down.

I know I shouldn’t do this. Trust me, I do. But the demented bastard I call my cock is screaming for me to take little miss perfect and give her exactly what she’s asking for.

So I have to do it. Them’s the rules.

This should be fun.

“Get inside,” I demand.

“What?” she squeaks out, eyes wide and full of shock.

“Go inside and don’t come out until I tell you to. Understand?”

She nods, hesitating before taking a step backwards.

“Jackson—”

I hold up a finger. “Blair, I told you to go home. I told you this isn’t where you belong. This is your final warning. You either walk to the gate and leave, or you go inside and wait for me to come back.”

She chews on the inside of her cheek, and I can tell she’s at war with herself over what to do.

“If you are still here when I come back, I promise I’ll give you what you want. You wanna stop having to be you for the night? I’ll show you what it's like to be someone else.”

Sylvester has a line of attraction workers in front of him, all waiting to hand over the tickets collected for the night. I don’t know why the hell he wants the damn things, but he says he likes to keep a tally of what’s performing well.

He’s preoccupied, so he won’t notice when I slip away before count out.

Hank slaps a hand on my shoulder. “Crowd wasn’t as big as I expected for an opening night.”

“Yeah,” I mutter, thinking about whether or not I’m going to find Blair where I left her.

“You coming down to play tonight? We’re meeting at my place. I’m going double or nothing. Gotta make up for my shit hands last night.”

“You know the answer to that, Hank. Jackson thinks he’s too good to hang with us,” Tiny calls out over his shoulder.
