“Hey, I’m Aurora, and I can’t cook for shit,” she exclaimed, laughing.

“Worse? When Aurora was dating Klutz, she pretended to cook homemade meals for him and then passed them off as hers. Klutz still doesn’t know till this day. Aurora will come and raid someone’s fridge and pretend she’s cooked it,” Phoe said with a scowl.

“You’re mad because I made off with that platter of ribs and slaw two nights ago,” Aurora teased.

“Damn right. Drake and I had hidden those from the kids, and you stole them!” Phoe snapped, but there was a twinkle in her eye.

“Even better. Aurora sticks everything into pots and pans and pretends the oven is on, and then serves Klutz ten minutes later. She does that because the food is cold, and she has a reason to microwave it warm,” Sin teased, and Aurora didn’t blush.

“Yup. Do you cook?” Aurora asked me.

“Don’t admit it!” Lindsey warned. “She has us all on a schedule!”

Aurora grinned.

“I already know she cooks you fools! I am the damn physic,” Aurora made the statement, and I blinked.

Wow, that came out of the left field. Grabbing a carrot, Aurora plopped herself down on a stool and began explaining that wild claim.

Chapter Nine.

Amberlea

“I see things turning out your way, but be warned, the past still has to be met,” Aurora said, staring at me ten minutes later.

“If Aurora’s telling you something, listen,” Marsha added. “First time she gave us a prophecy, we all ignored her as a quack. We didn’t ignore any other warnings Aurora had after that. We nearly lost Mac and Casey because of it. And then Andi? Cars falling from the sky? Shit, who’d have thought that would come true?” Phoe questioned.

“Cars falling from the sky?” I asked, confused.

“The Keystone Wye Bridge collapse? Andi was on that, and vehicles dropped off the bridge and fell from the sky,” Phoe answered quietly.

“Andi is?” I quizzed.

“She’s Manny’s old lady. Fuck, you know the survivors that were clinging to the wreckage? Andi was one of them. She is still traumatised even though she hides it, and so is Manny. She came fucking close to death,” Penny added seriously.

“Damn, that’s awful,” I said, feeling sorry for the unknown Andi.

The kitchen door opened, and Drake stuck his head in. His eyes swept the room until he found me, and he beckoned. I got to my feet as Drake’s gaze landed on Aurora.

“Rory, I meant to ask you. The funeral… for Goldberg, was that your vision?” Drake asked.

“No. Whoever the allied MCs come for, it was a biker,” Aurora said sadly.

Drake nodded sharply and then left.

I sent Aurora a glance but didn’t have time to talk as Phoe tilted her head towards the door. Obeying her command, I scurried out after Drake and saw Simone and Butch standing there. Simone had an expression of intense satisfaction on her face, while Butch remained impassive.

“Church,” Drake announced, and we followed him down a flight of stairs and into the big room I’d seen before. Waiting there was Ace, Gauntlet, Texas, and Fish. All looked serious as Drake took his chair.

“Start. You wouldn’t tell me anything over the phone,” Drake said.

“Amberlea, you okay for this to be discussed in front of Rage?” Simone asked. Her hand briefly squeezed my shoulder, telling me she’d keep quiet if I wished her to.

“Go ahead. They pretty much know everything,” I replied.

Simone took a chair that Butch held out for her and sat.

“Well, we got the confession from the lawyer and also the evidence to prove he accepted the bribe. No doubt, at the end of this, he’ll be struck off. But we had Nigel digging, and he came up with other evidence of your innocence. The first doctor who examined you on arrival wrote detailed notes. Unfortunately, they never made their way to court because of Mr Wellspring.
