“This is so bad,” I exclaimed, flopping back on the bed.

“It’s new. We’ll get there. But make no mistake, I am very interested in you, Amberlea, and your daughter,” Gauntlet assured me, lying down on his side.

“I will go to my room each night or early morning. Everything is so new to Faelea, and I don’t want her to be threatened in any way,” I murmured as my fingers traced the contours of his chest.

“That’s fair enough,” Gauntlet said with a nod. A wicked smile crosses his lips. “But until morning, you’re mine.” He bent his head and claimed my lips in a searing kiss.

“Axel’s coming home,” a woman cried, running into the clubhouse. It was the day after our delicious evening together, and now I was working on a website. I didn’t need to work. I had enough money to live, but I wanted to. It would show Faelea how to be strong.

“He is?” another woman demanded, rising to her feet.

These were old ladies; they wore leather cuts proclaiming their men and the fact they were part of Rage MC.

“Yes, he’s pissy and grouchy, but Ellen said they’re getting the discharge papers together,” the first announced. A quick glance at her cut said Autumn, while the other woman was Marsha.

“That’s my man,” Marsha replied, and I frowned because her cut read she was Fish’s old lady.

“Oh, hi. Didn’t see you there. I’m Autumn, Gunner’s old lady. You’re…?”

“Amberlea, my daughter, Faelea, is around somewhere. Gauntlet said he was going to take her on a tour and show her the swimming pool,” I replied.

Autumn and Marsha exchanged glances.

“You're with Gauntlet?” Autumn exclaimed.

A momentary awkwardness crept over me. How did I answer that?

“Kind of?” I ventured.

“How does kinda work out?” Marsha demanded, giving me a suspicious eye.

“We’re just starting out. Our first few times, we argued, but something happened, and Gauntlet helped me,” I said. I was unsure how much to say. I was saved by Drake, who opened a door and shoved his head into the main room.

“Amberlea. Simone and Butch are on their way in. Seems they got back late last night and have some news. They’ll be here in a few hours,” Drake stated, spotting me. The threatening aura he’d worn had disappeared, but Drake still seemed unapproachable.

“Thank you,” I replied.

“Marsha, could you introduce Amberlea’s daughter to any kids around, although the little shits should be at school, and then plan some shit for Axel?” Drake asked.

“No probs. Full hog?” Marsha questioned.

“Yeah, all his favourites. We got something to show him, too. Make a night of it; invite Hellfire and the others,” Drake said.

“I’ll organise a cookout for tomorrow and keep tonight family,” Marsha replied.

Drake nodded and shut the door on us.

“Well, let’s get our asses in gear. Girl, you are any good at party planning?” Marsha asked.

I looked around and realised she was addressing me.

“I have several degrees in event planning,” I admitted.

“Wonderful. You can go with Autumn and buy all the shit we need,” Marsha suggested, and I shook my head.

“Sorry, I can’t leave the compound,” I answered when she frowned at me.
