It had been two days since Gran’s attack by that motherfucking asshole Chas. Chas knew he was in my shit books because the fucker had disappeared. Yeah, well, Chas had to come home sometime. Julie had also been absent. Gran had nagged me solidly to visit her, and finally, I’d given in, but Julie hadn’t answered the security buzzer. Funnily enough, I could have sworn I had heard a child’s laughter coming from the back garden.

Gran was currently nagging mine and Blaze’s ass off about checking her. Apparently, Gran was concerned that Julie had been terrified by Chas and was hiding out. Of course, it had nothing to do with Gran’s matchmaking plans. She’d seen Julie, an attractive young woman, and her grandbaby desire had kicked in. I shook my head as Blaze sent me a beleaguered glance and finally rose to his feet.

Don’t do it, fucker, I silently warned, but Blaze ignored me.

“Gran, I’ll go across and see if Julie will answer now,” Blaze said, and I glowered. Shit, I was going to kill his ass dead! Jesus, my Gran had the guys wrapped around her little finger. Gran smiled sweetly at Blaze.

“Blaze dear, I’ll make sure I have your favourite cookies ready, son,” Gran bribed, and I couldn’t believe it when Blaze shot me a smug stare. Damn, if Blaze wanted a grandma so badly, he could have mine! Gran was proving to be a huge pain in my ass. Christ, I loved her to bits, but this need to interfere in my private life was becoming a bugbear. Gran knew what had happened with Tinsley. Hell, she’d tried putting me back together with her idea of love. Food. Mainly Gran had succeeded, but parts of me were too damaged.

Blaze sent me a smug glare before rushing out the door. A platter of his favourite cookies was clearly too much to ignore.

“You believe Julie seems a decent woman?” I questioned Gran.

Gran looked puzzled and cocked her head.

“Yes.”

“Then answer me this. What would a good lady like Julie want with a guy that screwed his half-sister?”

Pain crossed Gran’s face, and then it was swiftly chased by hate.

“If that bitch weren’t behind bars, I’d throttle Tinsley and give her the spanking her mama should have,” Gran spat. “You, my beautiful boy, did nothing wrong.”

“Can’t change the fact I fucked my half-sister in every position possible,” I said bitterly. Before Gran could say another word, I left.

I noticed the biker at the gates and ignored him. The bugger was persistent, to say the least, as he hit the doorbell a third time. Finally, he realised I wasn’t going to answer the door and turned away. A few seconds later, the bell rang again, and with a growl, I checked the camera and saw the delivery guys.

Faelea bounced around as she noticed the van, and I laughed as I let them through.

A second vehicle arrived behind it. Faelea squealed as she realised not only had her bedroom furniture arrived but also the clothes and other girlie items. With loud squeals of delight, Faelea helped carry the parcels into the lounge as I rolled my eyes at how many there were. Meanwhile, the delivery guys with Faelea’s furniture carried it upstairs.

“Faelea, will you be okay while I help direct your things?” I called.

“Sure, Mom,” Faelea yelled back.

I rolled my eyes in amusement. My girl was more interested in her goodies. Half an hour later, I tipped the bedroom men and let them out. Faelea clearly had sent the other delivery drivers away. Still, there were lots of heavy boxes and packages in the driveway.

I nearly jumped out of my skin as two leather-clad guys stomped past, carrying a selection of packages.

“What the hell?” I muttered as I recognised Gauntlet and one of his brothers. Faelea was standing in the middle of the lounge, surrounded by boxes and spinning in a circle, clapping her hands.

“Little lady asked for some help,” Gauntlet said, marching. How had they… damn it, they must have snuck through the gate when I opened it.

“Why are you here?” I demanded softly, keeping an eye on my child.

“Gran wanted me to find out how you’re doing after the other day,” Gauntlet replied as he stomped out. “How much crap does a girl need?” he questioned, passing me.

“Lots,” I answered, tight-lipped. How dare they interfere with my day with my daughter? They had gate-crashed my second full day with her. Shit, I’d not even had a week alone with Faelea yet!

“Over there, please, Blaze,” Faelea said sweetly as I followed Gauntlet into the house.

“You’ve got a lot of stuff here,” Blaze teased. “Is it your birthday or something?”

“No, I just moved in with Mom, and we’ve had to buy everything!” Faelea replied excitedly.

Gauntlet threw me a confused stare, and I noticed him wondering what was going on. Meanwhile, Blaze continued to question Faelea.
