Stuart cocked an eyebrow.

“Don’t do it; it’s career suicide,” Stuart warned.

“Who the fuck do you think you’re talking to?” Delong sneered as the door opened.

“Have you taken Mrs Michaelson’s statement?” Ramirez asked, walking in.

“Yes, sir, and I’m about to charge her.” Delong puffed up.

Ramirez stared at him and blinked. I hid a smile at the look of disbelief Ramirez wore.

“Sorry, I thought you said you were going to charge her?” Ramirez finally exclaimed.

“Yes. It’s clear she was involved in some gang activity, and also, it looks like murder—”

“Shut up. No, shut it, Delong. Are you seriously telling me you have been questioning Phoenix?”

“Yeah, there are over twenty bodies—”

“I’m aware of that, you idiot. You weren’t asked to question Phoe but take her statement. She is a witness to the Venomous Fangs’ unprovoked attack. This whole time, you’ve been looking at her as a suspect? Get out of my sight.”

Ramirez stuck his head into the corridor. “Lucas, you can please take Phoenix’s statement if you’re free?” he questioned.

“Sure thing, hey guys,” Bobby Lucas said, walking in. He looked as tired as everyone else.

“Let’s get this done quickly. Phoe needs to go to the hospital,” Stuart added. Twenty minutes later, I walked out and met Drake.

“Stupid cop was about to charge me,” I exclaimed in disbelief.

“Ramirez and the chief were tearing some guy a new asshole. Guess that was him,” Drake mumbled as I swung my leg over his bike.

“Good, bloody idiot. Let’s go, baby,” I replied, snuggling into Drake’s back. Drake turned and claimed a kiss, and I sunk into it. No matter how long we had been together, the spark between us never faded. Drake ended the kiss, and I wrapped my arms around his trim waist and flat stomach, and Drake rode off. Ace and Apache fell into place behind us.

When we arrived at the hospital, Hellfire was in force. They’d beaten most of Rage there because we’d been held back at the campsite and then had to give statements. Gunner and Rock were the only two officers present when we entered. The old ladies had filled the waiting room and were pacing anxiously.

“Where’s the babies?” I questioned, knowing I’d not been able to organise anything this time.

“At Reading Hall with Jodie, Nova, and the older teens. Tati, Clio, Thalia, Bunny, and Alice are there to help. The kids are all covered. Don’t worry,” Marsha said, coming forward.

“Liz has security out?” I asked as Drake waited for an answer.

“In force. They are crawling the grounds. The Ames has also moved into the Hall, and Albert is there. Plenty of adult supervision,” Marsha added.

“Good, not the first time, and this won’t be the last. Any news?” I demanded.

“Carmine is conscious and has been checked out. He took a blow on his face, but he’ll be okay. He’s being discharged soon. Tye is fine; he’s over there. The remainder are being checked over or are in surgery,” Marsha informed me.

Drake searched for Tye and found him surrounded by old ladies.

“Find out what happened, Drake,” I ordered with gritted teeth.

Drake nodded, dropped a kiss on my lips, and strode off.

“Tye,” I exclaimed, speedily approaching my son.

Tye glanced up from where he held his head in his hands.
