Jenna told her what they’d found at her apartment and how they’d had to leave it for the crime scene investigators to dust for prints. “I’ll go back later and collect your belongings once the room has been processed.”

“Why would someone break into my apartment and throw my stuff around? It’s not like I have anything nice. I don’t even have any jewelry worth stealing.” Her eyes narrowed. “Did you find my book?”

Jenna nodded. “I did.”

Brittany leaned forward. “And?”

“Nothing inside,” Jenna said.

“I know it was there. I put it there yesterday before I came to the hospital.” Brittany bounced her fist on the armrest of the wheelchair. “I remember specifically placing it between the pages.”

“It wasn’t there,” Jenna said. “But don’t worry. Bozeman isn’t that big. I’ll find him and pass on your message. We’ll go with you out to Hank’s vehicle. I packed some of my clothes for you. As soon as I can, I’ll get yours to you.”

“Better still,” Brittany said, “find my baby, and you won’t have to get my clothes to me. I’ll come home.”

“That’s the plan.” Jenna nodded toward Hank and Sadie. “And if you think of anything that will help us find who took Blakely, let Hank know. He’s got a network of people who can help us find the man who took her. It’s what his organization does.”

Brittany nodded. “Trust me. I’ve gone over everything that happened yesterday, from the moment I arrived at the hospital to the attack. But if I think of anything, I’ll let him know.”

Hank handed Jenna the backpack she’d left there earlier. She slung it over her shoulder and gripped the wheelchair handles.

Cliff held the door open for everyone to go through.

“I’ll drive,” said a young woman wearing scrubs and a badge identifying her as a medical assistant. “Hospital rules.”

Jenna stepped aside and let the woman push the wheelchair.

They all crowded into the elevator, descended to ground level and went out the exit used for picking up patients. Hank hurried to get the SUV and drove it around to the pickup point.

Cliff retrieved the suitcase and the pink bag while Jenna waited with the others at Hank’s SUV.

She hugged her sister and helped Brittany into the back seat. “Take care of yourself. Blakely is going to need you at one hundred percent.”

“I will,” she said. “And Jenna, thank you for being the best big sister. I’m sorry I haven’t been the best little sister. I’ll do better. I promise.”

“You’re perfect as you are,” Jenna said. “And you’re going to be a great mom to that baby girl.”

Brittany gave her a sad smile. “I hope so.”

Cliff loaded the suitcase and pink bag into the back of the SUV,

As they drove away, Jenna heaved a big sigh. “Let’s get to work. We’re going to find that baby.”

He walked with her to his truck and held open her door.

Once she was inside, he rounded to the driver’s side, got in and started the engine. “Where to?”

“I want to talk with Mr. David Waters.”

He grinned. “I thought you’d want to start there. I called Swede a minute ago and had him look up the man’s home and business address. He texted both to me.” Cliff pointed to his truck’s screen display of a map. “Since it’s a weekday, I’m betting he’s at his office. I’ve already input the address on my map app.”

Jenna leaned back in her seat. “I have my resources as well,” she said. “But thanks for being a step ahead. Did Swede have anything on Larry Sutton?”

“He’s working on it. There isn’t much information on Larry Sutton in Billings, Montana, other than his driver’s license on file with the DMV.” Cliff shook his head. “He’s having to dig deeper. He looked for a Larry Sutton in Salt Lake City, but none of them look like the photo I sent.”

Jenna pulled out her cell phone and dialed a number.

“Who are you calling?” Cliff asked.
