We only slept for three hours. We can either stay another night or stop once we get tired. It’s up to you.

“Or,” she says and laughs. “We can pull the classic Issac Raven and not stop until we get there,” she says with a wink. I laugh.

“Or we can do that,”

She nods and stands up and disappears inside. “Let’s get on with it, then!” I hear her shout. I shake my head and chuckle. I take one more glance out at the sun that’s fully risen. Gardenstone, here we come.

Delilah

“Welcome to Gardenstone” a sign reads as we pass.

“This is it?” I ask as we pass by it. Issac nods.

We pass acres of farmland the farther we drive into Gardenstone. Then houses come into view. They’re almost all made of stone. Most of them have gardens overflowing with flowers and greenery.

“Woah, I see where it gets the name,” I say as I watch the houses pass by.

“Just wait,” he says with a grin. My eyes grow wide, and I look back out the window.

The houses fade away and a large stone bridge comes into view. It’s suspended over a sparkling river. I look down as we pass over and see people on the sides fishing and relaxing in the setting sun.

Once we’re off the bridge, Issac takes a left and starts heading down a dirt road. On the left side of the road are acres and acres of farmland. To the right, there’s a tall stone fence outlining the sides of the road. We begin slowing down and as we do, the stone fence stops. I look up to see Issac taking a right and stopping in front of and wrought-iron gate.

“What’s this?” I ask as he unbuckles his seat belt.

“Hopefully home,” he says as he gets out. He walks over to the gate and unlocks it, then jumps back in the truck.

“It’s an automated one, so it opens on its own. I just like to lock it while I’m gone. I just nod. He drives through the gate that opens up to a dirt road. But on both sides, it’s just small hills of green grass and trees. We continue down the road, and then my jaw drops.

“The river cuts through here?” I ask, looking out the window towards the flowing river. I hear Issac chuckle.

“It does. But why don’t you take a look in front of us.” he says. Confused, I turn and look at him. Then I see it. A house, a big house. “It doesn’t quite have a wrap-around porch, but it as a front one and a back one.”

“Are you serious right now?” I say, my jaw still on the floor. I stare at the house in front of us and take everything in. The walls are made of stone, but dark wood patterns give it depth and a beautiful pattern. There is a large window above the front door. Through it I can see light shining through from a chandelier. The roof is tall and made of a dark gray metal. The dark wood also builds the front porch pillars and railings. Then stone stairs lead down to the ground from the porch.

“Welcome home,” Issac says getting out of the truck. He comes around to my side and opens the door and holds his hand out to me. “Hopefully”

“Issac,” I whisper, tears gathering in my eyes.

“Come on,” he whispers, taking my hand. I follow him. We walk up the stairs of the porch and up to the large dark oak door. Issac turns my hand over and places the key in my hand. I look up at him and he smiles, then nods toward the door.

I look down at the key, then to the door and walk up to it. I put the key in the lock and turn it, unlocking it. Then I push the door open, and the tears begin to flow.

Chapter Thirty-Five

Delilah

The door opens up to a large archway that leads into a living room. Walking through, I look at the window that lines the back side of the house. They show the river flowing down the hill and the mountains in the distance. I look to my right and see that the living room opens up into a kitchen. I walk in and look around. The counters are all a black granite, and the drawers and cabinets are all a dark polished oak wood, just like the rest of the house. The oven and sink and other appliances are all a dark gun metal gray. You would think it’s too much dark colors, but it all sits together perfectly.

“So, what do you think so far?” I hear Issac ask from behind me.

I spin towards him. “It doesn’t seem real,” I say, still looking around the kitchen.

“Well, we still have three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an ensuite bathroom to look at. Oh yeah, and your office,” he says to me as he grabs my hand and pulls me along through the living room to a small set of stairs.

“Office?” I say, but he ignores me.

He shows me the rest of the house except the last bedroom and my office.
