“What is that?” Nathan asked, nodding towards the folder.

“When you join the club, the club becomes your life and you become the club. Nothing is a secret in this life,”

“Unless you’re Isaiah Raven,” I said, rolling my eyes. Issac chuckled.

“You’ll learn almost everything you wanna know,” Issac said, pointing towards the folder.

“My father’s entire life is in that folder full of old papers?” Nathan asked, walking towards Issac’s desk. Issac nodded, sliding the folder closer to Nathan. Nathan hesitated before grabbing the cover to open it.

“I should warn you though, once you open that folder, you become affiliated with the club whether you like it or not. We won’t own your life, but we will have a big part of it,” Issac warns Nathan. “Is the life of your fathers worth the price of yours?”

Nathan sighed, then opened the folder. I shook my head and darted out of the office towards the parking lot. Standing out near the bikes, I took in the fresh air and tried to clear my head until I heard footsteps approaching, knowing exactly who they belong to.

“Why did you do that?” I asked.

“We need more allies, and now we do. Plus, he’s a cop and he’ll help us,” Issac said as he approached me. Opening my eyes, I look towards him.

“How do you know?”

“Trust me, darling, I know,”

Chapter Three

Issac

Sitting on my bike, I watched as Nathan slowly emerged from my office with his father’s file in hand. His head was hung low and his demeanor looked defeated. Man, oh man, do I know that feeling.

“Told you, you’d find some fucked shit in there,” I said, getting his attention. He slowly looked up at me through hooded lids. He cleared his throat and sniffled as he walked over to me.

“How do you know I’m not going to go to anyone with this?” he asked, referring to the file. I chuckled, crossing my arms over my chest.

“Her,” I said, nodding my head towards the beauty, giggling with Doll. Nathan tilted his head, looking over. He opened his mouth to speak, but I chimed in. “I know you care about her. I can see it. “

He lowered his head, looking at the ground.

“So, my father wasn’t the piece of shit my mother made him out to be,” he said, ignoring my last comment.

I shrugged. “I mean, were all pieces of shit. But no, he did a lot for the community and local charities.” He nodded his head.

“I barely know the man. I knew almost nothing about him except that he was murdered. I don’t even know how. A deal gone wrong, I’m assuming.”

I shook my head. “Nope. It happened here,” I explained. “We were having one of our family cookout days. While my uncle was dealing with my parents, sister, and me, he had also sent a few guys here to take care of the rest of the club. The families included,”

“Jesus” Nathan sighed. I nodded, then looked toward where Delilah and Doll were still standing.

“So,” I continued. “When my uncle’s men got here and started shit, your father gathered up all the kids and women that he could and hid them. Then he went and fought, and he fought hard, ultimately sacrificing himself in the end.” I looked over at Nathan, who was still listening and staring at the ground. “We called your mother to let her know, but she told us to fuck off and never call her again, so we respected her wishes.”

Nathan shifted his eyes to mine and took a deep breath, then let it out. “I don’t even know where he’s buried. “

I nodded, then adjusted myself to where I straddled the bike. “Keep up,” I said, hitting the switch to my bike, bringing it to life. Nathan looked at me, confused.

“What!?” he shouted, stepping back from the bike.

“I said, keep up. I don’t drive slow!” I yelled over the roaring of the engine. He nodded, then jogged to his car, slipping in.

The rumble of the engine caught Delilah and Doll’s attention as they walked up to me.

“Where ya headed?” Doll shouted. I slid on my helmet, adjusting it and clipping it into place.
