There it was, looking undeniably solid.

Alright, I needed to get rid of it fast, before anyone started wondering where I’d gone. I grabbed a handful of paper towels and closed my eyes, forcing my mind to go completely blank.

There was absolutely no way in hell I was going to let myself think about her while I did this. After all, it was just mechanics and I had nothing if not self control.

Some things were just too fucking sacred.

CHAPTER EIGHT

CLARA

I felt like such an idiot. Osian had been flirting with me all evening. Touching me, kissing my neck. Giving me the world’s ugliest necklace for my gift. He’d even let his hand trail over my ass when he’d left me at the bar so I could order another Cosmo.

So why had he fled when I’d ground my ass on him then?

It didn’t make sense and it was absolutely killing me. He clearly wasn’t ready for that. Grinding on his dick was a far cry from letting him kiss my neck.

I’d never done anything like that before and I was sorry I had. I’d gotten drunk and misread the signals and now I needed to go apologize.

It took me at least fifteen minutes to find him in the darkened sea of bodies. He was talking to a friend, but he paused and turned to me as I drew near. To my surprise, he ran his fingers down my arm and took my hand.

“Did you get your drink?” he asked.

I nodded, leaning in so I could talk. “I’m sorry.”

He frowned. “What for?”

I flushed. “At the bar a minute ago…I thought you were coming onto me so I ground on you. Like…I was just flirting, I didn’t mean to offend you.”

The crease between his eyes deepened. “What?”

I pointed at the bar, leaning even closer until his cologne filled my nose. “I’m sorry I ground my ass on you. I thought you were coming onto me and I was just flirting. I misread it.”

He pulled back, his eyes flicking over the room. “I wasn’t at the bar.”

I dropped my eyes to his silver Rolex and my stomach flipped. It wasn’t the same one, his had a white face and the one on the arm at the bar had been dark, velvety blue.

Oh, God, please no. I was going to have to change my name and move to Siberia now.

A hot flush roared up my neck and I let my head fall back, squeezing my eyes shut.

“Shit,” I swore. “Never mind. I’m going to go get a drink. Sorry, just forget about it.”

I pivoted mortified, and made a beeline for the back of the room. I had ground on some poor, but well-endowed man’s groin, by accident. He probably thought I was some kind of sex pervert.

And right now he was out there in the sea of people, wondering why I had just decided to give him a lap dance without so much as a hello.

Also…goddamn, whoever he was, he was impressive. I didn’t have a lot of experience with dicks, but the length and girth of his had taken me off guard.

I was a little disappointed it hadn’t turned out to be Osian’s.

“Clara!”

I turned to find Candice, Yale, and the Bachs standing behind me.

“Are you ready?” Candice asked. “Everyone’s getting ready to play hide-and-seek.”

I stared blankly. “What?”
