My thighs clenched. Beneath my panties, my clit throbbed painfully at the idea.

His mouth jerked up, giving me that arrogant smirk again. I had never been more mortified in my life. My ears roared and my jaw went slack. My heart began pumping again, hard and fast like a rabbit’s.

He glanced down at my thighs, clenched together, and laughed softly.

“Are you joking?” I whispered.

He shook his head. “It’s been the tradition in the organization for a while.”

I stared. Candice really would hate him.

“What if I don’t want it pierced?” I said.

He shrugged. “You don’t have to if you’re uncomfortable with it,” he said, his voice going silky smooth. “But…I’d like you to get it pierced so I can put my diamond on it. You probably have a lovely pussy.”

My throat tightened and heat seeped through my hips. I’d never had a man talk to me like this and it was both alluring and mortifying. He reached up and brushed the hair hanging by my cheek back, tucking it behind my ear.

I swallowed.

“You’re fucking beautiful,” he said. “I wasn’t sure what to expect, but you’ve got a tight, little body and a beautiful face.”

I internally gagged at his description of my body, but decided to let it go.

“I’ll think about it,” I said.

“About what?”

I took a sip of Cosmo to fortify myself. “About getting my clitoris pierced.”

He shrugged, staring at me lazily. “You know we’re not exclusive until you accept the piercing and we get engaged. I’m not planning on abstaining from sex with other people until then.”

Taken aback, I scrambled for words. It was my understanding that was pretty normal for our world, but I hadn’t expected him to be so forthright about it. Maybe that was for the best.

“Um…yeah, I mean, that’s fine with me,” I said.

“Are you fucking anyone?”

His gaze raked over me, less relaxed than when he was speaking about his sex life. There was a hint of darkness in that stare and it sent a shiver up my spine. I considered trying to make it seem like I also thought sex was no big deal.

But I couldn’t find it in me to lie.

“I’m not,” I said, my voice low. “I actually haven’t…done that yet.”

His brows rose and his head cocked. Then he leaned back and crossed his legs, the way Merrick always did. One over the other, all stretched out and loose.

I swore I saw a rise under the zipper of his pants as he did.

My stomach flipped and I took a large gulp of my drink.

“Is that a problem?” I whispered.

The corner of his mouth jerked up and he shook his head once. “Nah, I like it…it’s sexy and kind of sweet. Are you planning on saving yourself for our wedding night?”

I shrugged. “I’d…assumed you would want to sleep with me before then.”

“I would,” he said, sending that gaze raking over my body again.

I cleared my throat awkwardly. “Well, I guess it’s all yours then,” I said lightly.
