“You. Damn you to hell. It’s always been you. It will always be you.”

“Forever,” he said. “You are never to let another man touch you like this. Do you understand?”

As if I could. The thought of ever being with anyone else was impossible now, no matter what happened today.

“Yours,” I said.

“Tell me what you are,” he said, his voice low, threatening, seductive.

“I’m Alpha,” I said.

“Yes,” he purred. “You are. But what else? Tell me the thing you’ve refused to admit. Say it, Tempest. Own it for once in your life. Tell me what you were built to do in spite of who you are.”

The word rumbled through me. I trembled with pleasure. My secret. My fantasy. My truth.

“Submission,” I whispered. “I was built for submission.”

“Show me,” he said. I arched my back, letting him play me like an instrument. He knew. God help me. He always knew. No other man could make me feel like he could. In every other part of my life, I was Alpha. A leader. Born to dominate. But here, in the dark, I wanted this. Needed it. Would die without it.

I would crawl for him. Beg for him. Service him. His touch. His delicious punishment. Oh, yes. I wanted that too.

He caught my wrists with one hand and pinned my arms above my head. Yes! That too. Shackle me. Chain me. Collar me. Through that, I would find my release.

“Get on all fours, Tempest,” he said. “Don’t move a single muscle until I give you permission.”

“Yes!”

I scrambled to my knees, planted my palms flat, arched my back.

X came up behind me. He wrapped my long braid around his arm, pulling my head back. He kissed my cheek. The lightest whisper made my whole body tingle.

He touched me there at the base of my neck. The rough lick of his tongue. Oh, he knew how to make my body sing.

“Say it,” he said.

“Please. Do it. Mark me.”

“It’s forever, Tempest.”

I shuddered. X scraped his fangs over my sensitive flesh. He would lay me open. Bite me hard. I would bear his scar for the rest of my life and relish it.

Then I would take from him whatever I wanted.

I felt him get into position behind me. One moment. It would change me forever. Bind me to him in a deeper way than our souls.

The barn door burst open, bathing us in a harsh light. X roared.

“Tempest!”

I whirled around, taking a ready stance.

“Get away from my sister!” Jarred growled. He raised a gun and pointed it straight at X’s chest. Jarred took a shuffling step forward, propping himself up against the wall. Sweat poured down his chest.

“Jarred!”

“I’ll kill him,” Jarred said. “This is Dragonsteel.”

I met my brother’s eyes and knew he meant what he said.
