Roman gave her an appraising look. “Like I said, older women are appealing.”

She rolled her eyes. “Don’t hold your breath in that department.”

“You’re into breath play? Kinky.”

Angela smiled sweetly at him. “I’d be more than happy to put a plastic bag over your head. Just tell me when.”

Roman laughed but didn’t banter back. He showed her down another hall. “This is the private gym for those I consider mi famiglia. You’re welcome to use it any time.”

Angela looked at the expensive equipment, the weights, and the open floor area with the thick mats. “What makes you think I work out?”

“I’ve seen you naked, mia angelo,” Roman reminded her. “I’ve felt the strength in your thighs. It was an easy deduction.”

Angela clenched her legs together, telling herself to ignore the seductive purr of his words. “You think that was strength? You ain’t seen nothing yet.”

“Ah, a challenge.” His light-brown eyes lit up. “I look forward to what the future brings.”

She gave herself a mental spanking. Was she really flirting with Vincenzo Romano? He was her enemy. He was the bad guy. But it was funny, he didn’t seem so much like the boss of a criminal organization just then. Just a hot as fuck man who had already had his cock inside of her once.

“What are you thinking about?” Roman inquired, his gaze running over her face hotly.

“Paint colors,” Angela replied, slightly panicked.

Roman’s lips twitched. “Paint?”

“That’s right,” she confirmed with more confidence. It wasn’t as though he could read her mind, after all. “What is this color? It’s lovely.”

Roman followed her gaze to the wall of the gym. “I believe it’s called white. And this one,” he pointed to the wall near the weights. “It’s called black.”

“Ass,” she muttered, walking away from him. His amused chuckle followed her.

“Like I said, this is the private gym. But the public one we just left offers self-defense lessons to the public. Salvatore teaches them, along with Morrigan and a few others.”

Angela turned to him, surprised. “Really?”

“Yes. Our women’s class is on a Monday night if you’re interested. No charge, of course.”

“Maybe. Thank you,” she said.

Roman gasped, stumbling back a step. “Did you just thank me?”

“Don’t let it go to your head. Besides, I’m already well versed in self-defense, so I probably won’t come. Though, I could always use a refresher,” she conceded.

“You know martial arts?” Roman asked in surprise. “What kind?”

“Krav Maga,” Angela admitted after a moment of hesitation.

His eyes widened in shock, and he gave a low whistle. “Krav Maga is no joke. No wonder you were able to get one over on Abel a few times.”

She shrugged, feeling a little embarrassed for some reason. But also prideful. “There was a time when I needed to feel powerful. That I needed to feel like a warrior. Krav Maga seemed liked a good way to achieve that.”

“And did you succeed?” Roman wanted to know.

“Sometimes I think so,” Angela admitted. She studied herself in the wall of mirrors across from them. She was dressed in jeggings and a simple top, her hair bundled on top of her head. She wore no make-up or jewelry, but thought she looked strong at that moment. Still, she revealed, “Other times I’m not so sure.”

“Let’s find out.”

Her eyes flew to his in the mirror. “Excuse me?”
