“Have you told him yet? You promised you would wait until I could be here to witness it,” Luca said as he walked in, followed by a hovering Salvatore.

“You know about this?” Roman asked Luca. He was shocked because Luca seemed to have forged a good relationship with the doctor. Perhaps even a genuine friendship. But then, he wasn’t surprised. His brother had that effect on most people. He was irresistible.

Even to a jaded ex-military bodyguard who was raised in a brutal crime family, Roman thought, looking at Salvatore. His old friend had a stupid smile on his face as he gazed adoringly at Luca. The man was head over heels in love and Roman was pleased to see it.

Luca covered his mouth and giggled. His brown eyes sparkled with mischief as he nodded his head. Roman relaxed a little more. Luca wouldn’t be that carefree if real killing was involved. Which meant Abel was being melodramatic. Again.

“Wait until you hear this,” Luca said, rolling his eyes at Salvatore when the other man gently pulled him over to the couch, insisting he sit. “I’m fine, Sal.”

“Yeah you are,” Salvatore replied with a wink and a grin.

Roman rolled his eyes and Abel gagged, but the two men ignored them and shared a sweet kiss. Luca tired easily and wasn’t up to any heavy lifting, but he was basically fully recovered. And he owed it all to Angela. To think he could have lost his brother for good... Roman shook his head. The rage and pain such thoughts caused reminded him he still had his old doctor to deal with. Dr. Gaines had been his guest for the past month. Roman had largely ignored the older man, but knew he couldn’t do that indefinitely.

When Luca and Sal finally parted, Luca grinned at Roman. “Angela told Abel he had dick-rot and his balls were going to fall off.”

As Salvatore and Luca laughed, and Abel look disgruntled, Roman lost his cool. Again. “Why was she looking at your dick?” he yelled at Abel.

Luca’s mouth snapped closed, and his eyes widened. “Whoa, easy there.”

Roman looked down, realizing he had palmed one of his knives and was now holding it tightly by his side. He shook his head a little, marveling at the woman’s ability to get under his skin so easily. He was known for his cool, calculating demeanor. Yet, here he was, pulling a knife on one of his oldest and dearest friends. He acknowledged the stupidity of it, but he didn’t put it away. “You were saying?” he invited Abel.

Abel held his hands up. “She didn’t see my cock. In fact, she maced me.”

That gave Roman pause. “She what?”

“She sprayed me with pepper spray. Burned like a bitch,” Abel said, rubbing his eyes.

Roman looked closer, noting some residual redness along Abel’s lower lashes. “Why exactly did she feel the need to do that?” he inquired, finally pocketing the blade. He needed to remember that Angela could take care of herself. She had proven it time and time again in the short time he had known her. What’s more, it wasn’t his place to get insulted on her behalf.

“I simply asked for medical advice,” Abel explained innocently. “I have these spots...” He yanked his shirt down a bit, revealing numerous red and white spots on his chest. “I wanted her medical opinion.”

Luca snorted, leaning back against Salvatore. “It’s chickenpox. Hardly the end of the world. But Angela told him it was an STI and he was about to lose his most prized possession.”

Poor Abel looked so horrified that Roman couldn’t help laughing. Sal and Luca joined in. Abel, however, did not. He looked very indignant.

“It’s not funny!” Abel shouted. He shook his finger at all of them. “That woman is a menace.”

“She’s wonderful,” Luca corrected.

Roman couldn’t help but agree with both of them. “And this is why you want me to kill her? Because she lied about your dick falling off?”

“Yes. I can’t think of a better reason to,” Abel said, cupping his junk. “Can you?”

Roman considered that. Abel kind of had a point. “Well, it could be a new record. I was about to pay Dr. Gaines a visit. I don’t think I’ve ever killed two doctors in one day before.”

Luca glared at him. “That isn’t funny. I swear, you three and your records. I wouldn’t mind if they were normal. But they’re positively morbid.”

“Babe, are you saying you’re not proud of me for gutting the most men in a seventy-two-hour period?” Salvatore asked in mock outrage.

Luca shoved his lover. “That is exactly what I’m saying.”

“What about my record of burying the most amount of people alive in the one grave at a time?” Abel asked. He turned to Roman. “Do you remember how hard it was to stuff four people into a hole and cover them up with dirt? I had blisters on my hands for weeks.”

“I remember,” Roman said. “Your whining is why I invested in a small excavator.”

“You’re all sick,” Luca informed them. “Can’t you find a healthy hobby?”

“Says the man who hacked into WITSEC last night to discover the new identity of a witness so Morrigan can assassinate him,” Salvatore said, tickling Luca on the back of his neck.
