I taste myself on his tongue when he forces it into my mouth and as he thrusts inside me fast and desperately, I grip at his shirt and enjoy every second. I feel free, I feel like myself, and as I come again, this time with him fully seated inside me, I grip my legs around his hips and hold the top of his arms so tight that my nails embed into his skin.

Wade finishes the same time I do, making that long, deep groan he always does when he comes, and grinning at me in a way that makes my heart skip.

“Fuck, Leia.” He catches his breath. Then with his cock still hard and inside me, he lifts me off the table and sits back in the chair so I’m straddling him again.

“What are you doing?” I giggle, reminding myself just how big Wade is when his dick finds a new angle deep within me.

“I’m appreciating every inch of you before I have to leave.” He lifts the hair off my shoulders and bunches it into his fist.

“You're checking me for new bruises, aren’t you?” I ask, looking down my body to avoid contact with his eyes when reality hits like a two-ton truck.

“I wish you knew how badly I wanna make him suffer,” Wade tells me, his rough hands gently trailing down my body.

“I do,” I assure him, and I see the pain in his eyes even though he smiles.

“Things are changing, the Carsons ain’t gonna sit back for much longer, and when we come back fightin’ he’s gonna be the first person to pay,” he promises.

“Wade, I hate him. But I don’t want a man’s death on my conscience.” I shake my head and try to hold off my tears. It’s all I’ve thought about since Wade left me yesterday, and even when Caleb was fucking me last night I still didn’t want him dead. Just hurt. Really, really badly. Maybe broke and powerless too.

“You don’t have to worry about that. Your conscience is clean, darlin’.” Wade wraps his arms around me and pulls me against his body. Holding me tight until it’s time for him to leave again.

Garrett nods his head at Cole gratefully when he joins us at the dinner table, and Maisie does nothing to hide how happy she is that he came, with a bright beam as he takes the seat opposite me. An extra space has been laid out and everyone looks at it while we wait for Dalton to join us too.

“So, how weird is this?” Savannah breaks the silence, causing Maisie to choke on the sip of water she’s just taken.

“It’s pretty awkward,” I answer. I’ve been trying to distract myself all day from the fact that we have an extra brother now. I got no idea how it’s supposed to work, but Garrett is determined to do things right, and I got nothing against it. Dalton’s a decent guy, and there's always strength in numbers. Savannah’s right though. It’s gonna be weird and I’m guessing it will be for quite some time.

“I can’t believe he’s lived here all this time and none of you had a clue.” Savannah shakes her head and laughs to herself while everyone else remains quiet.

“There's a lot of things about our old man that we didn’t know about,” Cole growls, staring at the empty placemat in front of him.

I’m unsure if Maisie’s filled her friend in oneverythingthat we discovered last night. But the whole ranch now know that Dalton is a Carson. Garrett made that announcement in the yard as soon as I got back from Leia’s.

“Well, I’m sure it won’t take you all that long to get used to it. I never had any brothers or sisters growing up, I always wanted one. I’m pretty sure my parents tried, but they weren’t blessed, guess not everyone can just get knocked up by the…” Savannah stops rambling when Dalton walks into the room, carrying a bottle of wine and scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

“I didn’t know if I was supposed to bring somethin’’.” He holds up the wine before placing it on the table.

“That’s really kind of you.” Maisie smiles at him warmly. “Why don’t you take a seat there, next to Cole.”

Dalton does as he’s told, remembering to take off his hat before he sits down, but searching around helplessly for somewhere to put it.

“There’s a hook by the door,” Cole growls under his breath, and Dalton gets back up and hangs his hat by the entrance before returning to the unbearable silence.

“Is everythin’ good out there?” Garrett attempts to strike up a conversation.

“Oh, yeah, sir. Horses have been fed, water’s been checked—”

“I don’t think that's what he meant,” Maisie interrupts Dalton.

“No, it ain’t what I meant.” Garrett reaches forward for the wine and picks up the corkscrew.

“You won’t be needin’ that, sir, it’s um… it’s a screw top.” Dalton pulls an embarrassed face and Garrett smiles back at him before he unscrews the lid and stands up, pouring for the ladies at the table first.

“You're gonna need to stop with that ‘sir’ shit now,” he explains as he makes his way around the rest of us, and Dalton takes in what he says with an enthusiastic nod.

“There'll be a place at this table for every supper if ya want it, and we’ll look at gettin’ the storage room upstairs cleared out for ya too. It’s gonna need furniture and a paint job but—”

“That’s really not necessary.” This time it’s Dalton who interrupts as Garrett re-takes his seat.
