“Everyone, this is Alma,” Gunn introduces when it seems Luca can’t speak. “Luca’s wife.”

“You were saying about a vote?” one of the men asks.

“Luca,” Ray sneers.

“My wife was just leaving.” Luca grabs Alma by the arm and tries to drag her out.

Tiny as she is compared to him, she manages to hold her ground. “Actually, I believe I have much to contribute. It was my smarts that discovered the Ferryman.”

“She knows about the Ferryman?” Gavin asks.

“My father is Gregorio Di Persia. He’s spoken of him,” she says.

Luca leans in close. “I’d like a word with you in private.”

She glares at him as she tries to free herself. “After the meeting.”

“Now.”

He finally manages to drag her out and shut the doors behind them.

We’re left staring after them. But no one moves. Especially not after the sounds of fucking follow their argument.

“I feel dirty,” Jorge comments. “But I guish they had left the door open. If jour gonna fuck during a meeting, let me see.”

“This is ridiculous,” Ray booms, lifting his hefty body out of a groaning chair. He stomps to the doors and throws them open. “Luca!”

“I think the meeting’s over,” Rowan says when the argument between Luca and his uncle begins.

One by one, we stand and make our way out, stopping as a group in front of the stairway. Luca has his uncle pinned to the balustrade, his large hand wrapped around the older man’s neck.

“You ever think about touching her again, I will forget you’re my blood,” Luca grits in a low, menacing tone.

“Ungrateful boy.I made you.”

“You made nothing!” Luca roars. “I earned my position long before you decided you wanted me in it. You either fall in line with the rest of them, or get the fuck out.”

We watch intently, but we won’t interfere. This is Sinacore family business, and as the Don, Luca has every right to decide how to run it.

It makes me wonder if I’d be extended the same courtesy if I told them it was me who killed Renzo, and not Gideon. Or would I be seen as a traitor who couldn’t be trusted because I took out my own boss, regardless of my reasons?

A very red Ray finally nods in acquiesce and is released. “I’d like a word with you in private afterward,” he tells his nephew when he can speak again.

Without answering him, Luca turns to us. “It took all of our syndicates to eliminate Stephen Black. Knowing who the new Ferryman is doesn’t make him less dangerous or powerful. You want help getting your city back from Gideon, this is your chance. Otherwise, you’re on your own. You have two days.”

I didn’t take out Renzo just to be killed by some jackass on a revenge mission.

The Giannis will be mine and we will be strong again. “Famigliacomes first.” Uncle Francesco embedded that in my brain.

Unlike my cousins, I know when to war and when to seek powerful allies. And every man here is powerful. Only by aligning myself with the Sinacores will I succeed.

Luca said to wait before I take control of the Giannis. I’m a patient man, my hand steady as I set my crosshairs directly over my target.

“I don’t need two days,” I say to Luca as I pass him on my way out the door. Placing my palm on his shoulder, I say, “I’ve made my choice.”
