“Prez says you got Winter’s parents on that list.” He ran his hands along the outside of his cut then down his thighs, checking his weapons. Unlike most natural born wolves, Carbon was just as happy to use his knives and guns as his claws. “Just so you know, I call dibs on making them bleed.”

He tucked something into his pocket that I suspected was a Carbon special with a grim smile.

“You take all the time you need, brother. Got my own mark to bleed. Plan to make him squeal like the little pig he is, too.”

I kicked my bike to life and tapped out our first stop into the GPS in my phone. While my wolf wanted to make a beeline for Sasha’s uncle, it didn’t make tactical sense. Plus, we had an abusive mother fucker who beat on his wife and stepdaughter to visit first. I told myself it was because he was closest, but honestly I needed a warm up before I hit Sasha’s uncle’s house.

“Hey, ladies,” Grimm hollered from where he was stabbing out his cigarette at the edge of the parking area, impatience riding him hard. “We’re burning daylight.”

I looked up at the blood red moon that hung heavily over the mountains and the fog that rolled down the road leading out of the Soul Reaper’s compound, then raised an eyebrow at my friend.

“Metaphorically, asshole,” he growled.

I shrugged and Carbon snickered as I shot off a text with the route to Grimm.

“Okay, wolves of the Blood Moon Goddess. Let's ride.”

Damn. With the Chaos riding our beasts, the Soul Reapers’ call sent a thrill through my veins and drew a special purr from the bike beneath my legs as I followed my Prez out of the lot.

Louise’s piece of shit stepdad didn’t have a clue about the fuckery we were about to bring down on his head. Wife beaters had a special place in the underworld to burn as far as I was concerned. Carbon and I were gonna help that son of a bitch get a little closer to his final destination.

Riding the entire fucking breadth of the Valley wasn’t my top choice for the day, I would’ve much rather been curled up in my den with my mate. Fucking or loving, I wasn’t picky. All I wanted was to bask in Silver’s heavenly scent.

Yet Sasha was always there, riding my wolf and singing in my blood.

It had been years since I had even looked at someone other than Silver and it itched at my conscience. I had this beautiful, perfect mate—a man who had been the mate of my heart long before the Chaos had returned—and suddenly my wolf had set his gaze on another.

And fuck me if the little human wasn’t just as perfect.

Vivacious, devoted and full of fire. The sort of fire that wouldn’t even think twice of challenging an alpha as fierce as Grimm. I’d never seen my friend as stunned as he had been after the whirlwind that was Sasha blew in and out of his office this morning. I should’ve brought a beer.

The Bone Crushers hadn’t broken this woman. They had taken her raw potential and forged it into a beautiful weapon. Deadly and delectable. I couldn’t wait to taste her spice for myself.

So why did I have such a problem with claiming her as our mate? From the kiss they’d shared last night—a kiss that nearly had me blowing in my jeans in front of the whole damn club—Silver and Sasha were all in.

Threesomes weren’t uncommon, after all. Bulletproof had a three-way pairing, and he and his mates had been happy for over a decade. Sure, keeping multiple mates happy and balanced took work, but I’d never been afraid of pulling my weight.

Yet there was still this niggling apprehension simmering in the back of my thoughts.

I’d seen the way my oldest friend watched Sasha. Grimm’s wolf was called to her, too. And his wolf was an alpha, through and through. That beast didn’t share. He took what was his due—no more, no less, but never at the expense of others.

People had died in mate challenges and there was no fucking way I would do that to him. Grimm was the kind of man who would starve himself to feed his pack. I could see him digging his heels in, ready to deny himself the Goddess’ blessing, simply to see his omega happy.

Fog rolled across the roads, stained with crimson. The Blood Moon transformed the entire world into the fires of the underworld. Though the Goddess may have been looking down from above while our headlights worked hard to pierce the unnatural gloom, given that it was only noon, this darkness was messing with me.

I gripped the handlebars a little tighter as we made our way from Soul Reaper territory.

The world was quiet, punctuated by the howling of wolves. The song—half victorious, half lamenting—carried around Chaos Valley, echoing off the mountains. It haunted the world as we passed the Badlands and headed for Black Rock Pines.

Louise’s step dad lived in a rundown, bungalow-type house. Once, it had probably been a cheery little place to raise a family. Under the watchful eye of the Goddess, it looked sinister. There was a light on in the front window.

Grimm gave us the signal to cut our engines. Didn’t want the fuckwad to know we were coming for him. Our Prez padded up the rickety stairs and banged on the front door.

The security light over the front porch snapped on and a burly man wrenched the door wide.

“I told you assholes, no refunds.” He leaned his forearms on either side of the door and got right up in Grimm’s face. “Not my fault you can’t hold onto a few sniveling humans.” He turned his head and spit on the ground. “Now get off my property.”
