I sank into the hot water, resting my head back on my hands, and watched her as she bit her lip and pumped her hand up and down.

“Faster,” I said.

She slowed her strokes. “Don’t tell me what to do, Rivers. It will only make it worse for you.” She laughed her beautiful, unselfconscious laugh. The water sloshed out over the top of the tub as she picked up her pace.

“Do you like that?” she said breathlessly.

“Mm-hmm.”

She moaned and I closed my eyes because the sight of her wet and flushed with pleasure and her perfect breasts bouncing was enough to send me over the edge, and I didn’t want it to be over so soon.

“You’re beautiful. You know that, don’t you?”

She laughed. “You’re just saying that because I’ve got my hand wrapped around you.”

“That’s a factor, but it’s also the truth.”

Her lips covered mine and our tongues wound together in a filthy kiss full of lust and need. This woman was going to kill me. She picked up her pace. My fingers tightened around the edges of the tub. Oh God. This was too good. The last time I’d let a woman into my world, everything had come crashing down on my head.

She straddled me. The water lapped up the sides of the tub as I tried to pull her down on to me.

“No. Not without a condom. Just relax.”

I rested my head back against the tub while she worked. Heat and intense pleasure engulfed me, and I couldn’t help my groan. Who was I kidding? One night wasn’t enough. I couldn’t fuck this woman out of my system. I could only make this longing in my chest for her worse.

Miri Forster had me completely fucking done for.

Chapter 24

Miri

Thenextmorning,Ifound Reece and Mum in the kitchen. Reece knelt down next to Mum’s wheelchair, the two of them whispering.

Reece stood and Mum flashed me a glance. “You were back late last night.”

The back of my neck itched from lying, but I didn’t need them prying. “I was with Phoebe. We opened a bottle of wine … I lost track of time.”

“Did Phoebe get a new job?” Mum asked.

“No. Why do you ask?”

Mum kept her tone light and innocent. “Oh, I thought she must have had a salary increase since she dropped you home in a Lamborghini.”

Mum sniggered. Reece flashed her a glance and raised a bemused eyebrow.

“You are both so nosy and so juvenile. Aren’t you above this kind of thing? You’re worse than Frankie. This is why I don’t tell you anything.”

Reece lifted his hands in mock surrender and raised a sardonic eyebrow. “I’m just happy for Phoebe. It’s wonderful that she’s doing so well.”

The two of them shared a look and laughed.

Mum clucked her tongue. “You don’t have to lie to us about your boyfriends, Miri. It’s been so long since Jed. Whoever he is, you should invite him round for dinner.”

I couldn’t stop my incredulous laugh. I could imagine my family trying to play it cool with Gabe Rivers in the house. I’d die of embarrassment. It was a stupid chain of thought anyway. Gabe didn’t want a girlfriend. He’d wantedonenight. God only knew how awkward it would be when I saw him again after Christmas.

The sound of a key in the door and excited chatter drifted from the hallway. Frankie burst into the kitchen, followed by her twin, Elliot. Frankie dropped her bag and ran to hug Mum first before pulling me into a hug. Elliot hung back, waving a greeting.

Frankie smoothed a hand over her dark-green-tipped hair. It had been blue when she’d left for university. “We would have got here sooner but I had to drag this knucklehead out of the gym.” She thumbed in the direction of Elliot, who stood tall and imposing in the corner. He towered over all of us by at least a foot, even Reece.
