Miller forces me towards a metal pole in the center of the room, and I stumble over debris scattered across the floor.

He ties my hands behind the pole, the rough rope cutting into my wrists as he secures the knot.

"You're not going anywhere."

I can hardly breathe as panic sets in, my chest tightening with each labored inhale.

As much as I try to control my fear, tears well up in my eyes, spilling down my cheeks.

I have to find a way out of this.

For my baby.

The sound of footsteps echoes through the warehouse, and I strain my neck to see who has entered.

A tall, broad-shouldered figure steps out of the shadows – Damon Atwell, the hitman rumored to be as ruthless as he is skilled.

My heart sinks.

"Ah, Diana. We finally meet," he says, his voice smooth and chilling.

His dark eyes study me intently, and I can't help but shudder under his gaze.

"Please," I beg, my voice trembling.

"Don't do this. Why are you doing this? I've done nothing wrong."

"Some things in life are just destined, sweet girl," he replies coldly, circling me like a predator.

"Your biggest mistake was agreeing to marry the son of Riccardo Giovanni."

"Anthony's not like his father. He didn't choose this life!" I protest, searching for any hint of sympathy in Atwell's eyes.

But they remain as cold and hard as stone.

"Unfortunately for both of you, it's not about what he wants or doesn't want. It's about loyalty." Atwell stops in front of me, his gaze unrelenting.

"And I need to show mine."

"Please, don't hurt me," I whisper, tears streaming down my face.

"I have nothing to do with your war."

Atwell's expression remains impassive. "It's too late for that, Diana."

I choke on a sob, my chest aching with fear and desperation.

It's like I'm in the middle of a bad game.

For a moment, I feel relief as I watch Atwell approach Agent Miller.

He hands him an envelope, and even from this distance, I can see the unmistakable bulge of cash inside.

My stomach churns at the sight – how much is my life worth to these people?

The deal seems to be sealed now.

"Enjoy your retirement, Miller," Atwell sneers, his voice dripping with disdain.
