“Oh, they love it when I drop things early. I think it’ll be so exciting.” She beamed. “It’s like Christmas coming early, and I think that’s such a beautiful gift that I can give my followers.”

I nodded. “Then I guess we’ll all clear our itineraries for Friday.”

“Yay!” She squealed like a little girl at Disney World, clapping her hands together and bouncing in her seat.

“I love your spontaneity,” Olivia’s voice caught my attention, her sweet tone soft and approving, like that of a mother.

She’d make a good one.

I shuddered. Where the fuck was that kind of thought coming from? I never thought about a woman in that way, and Olivia wasn’t even showing me interest anymore. Was the chase making me crazy?

“I love that you love it.” Harlee shot Olivia a cute popstar wink, reaching over and squeezing her hand. “You have to sit by me at the premiere. I think the whole world should know that you’re the mastermind behind the whole thing.”

“That’s so sweet of you.”

Really, isn’t it though? My head mocked the two gushing women.

“Okay, so this is going to be a real clusterfuck.” Chris pushed himself back from the table, shaking his head as he stood to his feet. “I’ll have to reschedule everything up a week. Are you sure you want to do this, Harlee? I don’t see why we can’t just be right on time with this one?”

She waved him off. “Oh, stop being such a fuddy-dud. It’ll all be fine. Just tell whoever that we’ll double their pay to get it moved up a week. You’ve done it before. I’m sure you can do it again.”

He sighed in response. “Of course.” Chris then turned to me, extending out his hand. “Thanks for being so understanding, Eli. I know that we can be complicated and demanding, but I can’t tell you how much we appreciate your cooperation.”

“No problem.” I stood to my feet, shaking his hand. “We just aim to make our clients as happy as possible.”

“Well, we’ll see you Friday then.”

We all said our goodbyes, and I watched as Harlee hugged Olivia, pausing to whisper something in her ear that made her laugh. It ground my nerves, though my cock twinged at the sight of the heat flushing her porcelain cheeks. Her pale blonde hair was pulled back in a sleek ponytail, showing off her feminine jawline and sleek neck. My mind flashed with the vision of my lips on her skin, sucking it into my mouth.

Fuck.

“Well, that’s a wrap, everyone,” Mason snapped my attention back to reality. “I think we can officially say that this has been one of the most interesting projects we’ve ever done—and the fastest we’ve ever turned it around.”

“No kidding,” Zena agreed, leading the way out of the conference room. “Who wants to go to happy hour down at Erickson’s to celebrate? I’m dying for a drink after working overtime.”

“I agree,” Mason said. “Count me in.”

I stood to my feet, and usually I would’ve chimed in offering to pay for everyone’s celebratory rounds…but I couldn’t clear my mind of Olivia.

“Are you coming?” Mason asked her, my heart jumping.

“Um, I don’t know. Maybe. I have a few things to finish up first.”

Mason nodded, taking that as a good enough answer. The team slipped out of the room, chatting amongst themselves. Olivia was the last to head for the door ahead of me, and I reached for her, grabbing her hand. It startled her, and she turned back to look at me, her blue eyes flashing with something that set my dick on fire.

The spark is still there.

“What is it?” Her voice wavered, though the unpleasant tone did not.

“I was hoping that we could talk,” I said, keeping my voice flat.

“Right,” she sighed, allowing the conference room door to click shut. “What is it that you’d like to speak to me about, Eli?”

I let her hand go, seeing the tension growing on her face. “I just want to know how this premiere moving up is going to affect your departure from my company.”

Olivia nodded slowly, her face devoid of any emotions. “I said that I would be leaving once the project had concluded, so I suppose that means I’ll be leaving one week sooner.”

I swallowed hard, my eyes dropping to her plump lips. “And that’s what you want, Olivia? You want to leave?” My gaze flickered back to hers, and I saw a flash of conflict there.
