I didn’t want to do that, and maybe it was just because she was Owen’s sister—or maybe there was more to it. Ugh. I groaned, my head dropping to my hands. I was in a fucking mess, and it was just like my dad had reiterated my whole life...

Women are just a distraction.

And Olivia was proving to be the biggest one I had ever dealt with.

“Uh, Eli?” a soft, sweet voice startled me.

I jerked my head up to see Olivia standing in the doorway of my office, a concerned look on her face. My mouth watered at the sight of her. She was really nailing the New York City professional look now, only she always had a spin of sexy laced into it. Today, it was in the form of a black lace camisole peaking out from her white blouse. Her tight twill pants and black heels added to the hourglass silhouette, and my cock wanted me to rip those clothes right off her.

“Are you okay?” she asked as she stepped further into my office, shutting the door behind her.

Oh fuck, I cannot be alone with this woman.

“I’m fine,” I said flatly, my head aching with my words. “What do you need?”

“Harlee was wanting to reschedule the shoot for tomorrow to Friday—and wants to know if there’s any way that we could move up the final cut a week so that she has time to think about it.”

I shook my head. “That’s nearly impossible. We’d have to work overtime.”

“Right, but we do this kind of thing for clients all the time,” she reasoned, eyeing the water bottle on my desk. “Are you feeling okay?”

“Just a hangover,” I grunted, leaning back in my chair and running my hands over my face.

“On a Wednesday?”

“I don’t know why you’re surprised. I know people do the same out in Los Angeles.”

She narrowed her eyes at me. “Yeah, but I’ve never seen you hungover on a Wednesday.”

“Wow, you are so observant, Olivia,” I retorted. “Please tell me more.”

“You’re an asshole when you’re hungover.” Her thick lips curled up into a smile, and my cock throbbed at the thought of those lips wrapped around my erection.

“Also horny as fuck.” My voice was barely audible.

“What?”

“Nothing,” I said quickly. “I don’t know what to tell you about the Harlee situation. It’s fine to move the shoot to another day, but I don’t think we can change the final cut. This is a complicated project, and I think you know that.”

She nodded. “I know, which is why I came to talk to you about it. I just want to know what you think. She’s going to stop by and meet with me today.”

“Of course she is.” I fought the urge to roll my eyes. I wasn’t sure what it was about Olivia’s success with Harlee that was so annoying to me—maybe just the way she did it without me saying it was okay.

But whatever.

“So, I’ll just try to explain everything to her. She’s really logical, so it’ll be fine.” Olivia let out a sigh and turned to go like she couldn’t stand to be in the same room as me.

“Olivia, wait,” I blurted, before she could even get the door open.

She stopped and faced me again. “Yeah?”

“Can we talk for a minute—and not about work.” I couldn’t believe the words coming out of my mouth.

She gave me an unsure look. “Uh, sure.”

I stood up from my chair and walked around to the front of my desk, leaning on it as I folded my arms across my chest. “I don’t like our current dynamic.”

Her brows furrowed. “I don’t think I’m following you.”
